Week 15
Another polymer clay tutorial! I completely made up this method myself, I'll have you know!
The eyeshadow does shed a BIT after baking, but this can be remedied by added a coat of glaze.
^I would LOVE it if you commented if this helps you!!^
^Link me to your creations that you make with these tips, and I will list them below!^

I have a couple of question for you! C:
Does it matter what kind or brand of make up you use to color your clay?
I've read around that most eye shadows have petroleum in them and will dissolve the clay over time? o_o
Dunno if it's true or not.
I've even read that if you bake the clay containing make-up product, that it will catch on fire in the oven?! O_o
I wanted to ask because I don't want to go through trial & error and risk burning down the house lol xD
Also, does it have to be the 'powder' kind? o: There are some eye-shadows that are shimmery but are kind of "creamy".
So are those okay to use too? o:
Thank you so much! Sorry for the overwhelming questions. ^^'

-No, the brand doesn't matter, as long as the sparkles are small enough. If they are too big, they can possibly burn in the oven.
-I have never heard that before. I've had my pearls for a few months now and they look fine. Could be true? I don't know.
-Well since it's only a bit of eyeshadow, nothing drastic is going to happen. xD I mean, I wouldn't put up this tutorial if mine caught on fire. Just keep the temperature and time under control, as you normally bake it.
-I personally wouldn't use the creamy kinds...you aren't supposed to bake polymer clay after adding acrylic paints, so I kinda think that's similar. So you'd be taking a chance if you tried...
No problem ^-^ I'm happy to help~

Very, very helpful tutorial.

You mean glaze, right? Yeah, it is a bit tricky to apply the glaze though...as it is round.
Alright! I look forward to it!

I could never find metallic polymer clay at the store, and I'm not about to buy it online either, so this is a nice option to have.

Question: Does the eyeshadow rub off over time if you don't add a clear coat?

MisttheWarrior In reply to D0nu7 [2011-04-23 01:52:29 +0000 UTC]
You can't tell by looking at the pearl that it is losing sparkles, but it will leave them on your hand if you handle it. So yes.
