Description Alright, more sketches...This one is roughly based on something I saw last week on the tube: First time I see two people sharing a free newspaper instead of fighting for it!

This sketch took about 10 minutes, a chunk of 2B graphite and a moving bus. It`s not the Sixtine Chapel, but it was fun to do.

I really can't get enough of your style! Keep them coming! I tend to like sketchwork more than final peices anyway. They have more feeling and life to them, as you can see the work that's gone into it

Thanks a million, it doesn't happen everyday you run into someone that understands the importance of sketching! You're absolutely right: as an artist I am mostly concerned with the process. You got some cool stuff too; are you professional?

Haha! I guess I am.
I did find it funny when had to classidy my job type, and it came under professional, as I still just do what I love, but yes, I do this for a living.
I'm very lucky to have worked on some great projects over the years. I was taken in by a small illustration company here in the UK when I was 21. Even though they are a were a small company, that had HUGE name clients. That's where I started to use photoshop, but had to teah myself, as they had no photoshop artists in house
Never looked back really. I'm self employed now though. Times have been a bit rough in the past year though

Are you professional, or just for the love of doing it at the moment?

Excellent! you are lucky you found your way in life early. I work in the design and build industry designing and doing construction drawing packages...not too happy as this is really boring and repetitive. I do my stuff on the side, usually during commuting and at lunch; I wish I had the clarity back then when I was starting to steer myself away from the construction industry!

Do you have a website outside DA?

GrandMaster-J5 In reply to mitengu [2010-06-16 16:05:59 +0000 UTC]

Nope. No site outside of here. Not yet anyway.
It's a shame actually, as one of my clients did a job not too long ago, asking to have all art by their artists that could draw girls. (Nothing rude It was a kind of Barbie/Sindy project)

Your art style is really great. Have you had to use them for a job before, or just as hobby? Time or age doesn't matter, as long as the work is good.

Now, is a bad time though. Lots of companies are still very nervous, and delaying/canceling jobs due to the credit crunch! Not good!

Yeah, I'm at the point where i want to take my stuff somewhere, but I'm not sure what's the next step. I've done galleries and stuff but they're just a social event in the end. T-Shirts? maybe!

I know it's crunch time now, that's why I'm hesitant to make any moves.

About your site, I've heard having your own site is a must...If you set one up, please let me know.

Take care!

Pfff, it would've taken me most of the day to do that. I work slow when drawing. Anyways this is so cute and they look like they're enjoying themselves. Love sudoku~

I did the entire inside crossword in the Evening Standard the other day, i could have passed out with shock! (it's only because they didn't put any stupid words in it for a change )

Thank you very much, I'm happy something I made brightened someone else's day

Congrats on your crossword! That's a sign of patience and above-average intelligence. I have NEVER finished one either in English or Spanish.

that's okay, i needed something to make me smile June's not going well so far

I finished the one on the back of friday's evening standard too i put it down to being angry about my laptop, i think better when i'm angry apparently!
It would help if when the clue is 'mammal' the answer wasn't polecat, that's not exacly the first mammal i had in mind

If it makes you better iwouldn't stand a chance if it was in Spanish, although i'd give it a go

Haha or maybe those girls noticed you drawing them and you had to stop
Thank you! I'm having fun with markers at the moment. I want to buy a nice professional set but I have no money (They're so expensive!)

mitengu In reply to DreamerPierrot [2010-06-06 00:52:01 +0000 UTC]

Naaah, they weren`t girls: more like early 30`s. Also, I never sketch in front of people, that would be super rude and creepy! I draw based on lingering impressions, sometimes days after.

Markers are great, I really wanna go back to them sometimes, but I get so self conscious that I never finish the drawing! Those Pro sets you mention are for the wealthy, that`s another reason why I changed media.

Take care and keep up the excellent work

Lol I guess it would be quite creepy
Markers are great!... Though I shouldn't neglect my watercolour work , what brand markers do you use?
Thanks ^^

Markers, I use Letraset...I can't afford Copic, I would need a loan from Barclays to get a mid sized set!

DreamerPierrot In reply to mitengu [2010-06-07 12:46:21 +0000 UTC]

Same here (promarker set). Lol Copic sets are ridiculously expensive and hard to come by but I hear they save you money in the long run. I'm gonna start saving for some

mitengu In reply to DreamerPierrot [2010-06-09 10:32:52 +0000 UTC]

Good luck. I'm saving as well: I have a little Art Penny Jar where I try to raise money for materials, but so far I have about £1.50. 200 more to go!

DreamerPierrot In reply to mitengu [2010-06-09 10:45:11 +0000 UTC]

Yay! £1.50 can get you... half a copic marker! NICE! Hope you raise enough soon ^^
