I kind of have a weakness for disfigured villains and one of my favorites is The Controller. If you’d like to learn more about him please click the following link:

With a lot of armored characters I take a lot in inspiration from the Iron Man movies and their armor designs as well as The Transformers designs for how to make armor look more technical and powerful. I did the same with old Basil here while keeping the same basic design from the comics and I'm pretty happy with the results.

As much fun as I had with the armor I had a lot of fun fleshing out the Controller’s scarred up face and messed up teeth. Some artists tend to draw him with a mouth full of fangs but since this guy got busted up in a lab explosion I thought messing up his teeth looked more natural and disturbing.

It also helps enhance the fact the Controller is so insane that he would go through all this effort to build this high tech armor but not even attempt to fix his face or teeth.

Also most artists draw him with fully opaque white eyes but I opted for having his eyes look damaged, paler and slightly milky to make them look crazier and creepier.

I kept his slave disk design pretty much the same as in the comics and I put him in a lab setting since this creep is always toiling away at some device that will allow him to sap the wills of the masses and add their mental energy to his.
