Description

For Beetle I wanted to make his armor look more technical and somewhat bulkier than it was usually portrayed so I used the Iron Man movies as inspiration to make it looks a bit more detailed.

Here's his origin:

Abner “Abe” Jenkins was a brilliant master mechanic and engineer working at an aircraft parts plant where his ideas for new innovations, including a wearable flying armored suit, were dismissed by his boss who thought Jenkins was crazy.

Angry and dissatisfied with his job Abe built his armored flying suit and decided to use it to gain wealth and fame and maybe have a little adventure. Luring the Human Torch and The Thing of the Fantastic Four into a battle to show off his suit’s abilities Abe thought the defeating the heroes would make him an overnight sensation.

Unfortunately the duo soundly defeated the Beetle and he was sent to prison. When he was released some time later the Beetle sought revenge on the Human Torch but he ran afoul of Spider-Man who also defeated him.

Humiliated by several more defeats the Beetle offered his services to Justin Hammer who sent him and a battalion of super villains after Iron Man who destroyed his original armor in the melee.

Sinking all of the finances he had left into a new redesigned armored suit Abe teamed up with the criminal Tinkerer who helped him build and refine the suit design making it sleeker, more powerful and with new offensive and defensive capabilities.

With his new suit the Beetle once again sought revenge on Spider-Man but was defeated. He was then recruited into Egghead’s Masters of Evil and for a while held his own against the Avengers until he and the rest of the team were defeated and arrested.

Upon release from jail the Beetle decided to form his own team, one that wouldn’t waste time with revenge and only seek out financial gain. The Beetle then recruited, Speed Demon, Rhino, Boomerang and Hydro Man to join this new group which he dubbed The Sinister Syndicate.

The Syndicate was successful for a few years but it eventually broke apart from in-fighting amongst it’s members.

Eventually the Beetle was recruited by Baron Helmut Zemo to join his new Masters of Evil who disguised themselves in new costumed and civilian identities as The Thunderbolts pretending to be a new super team to fill the void left by the Avengers and Fantastic Four who were both believed dead at the time.

After playing the hero as the armored Mach 1 for a year Abe became used to the respect and adoration he got from the public and was one of the members of the original team who turned on Zemo and helped the returned Avengers and Fantastic Four defeat him and ruin his plans.

Since then Abe has turned his life around and become a respected super hero and has actively sought to reform his former friends in the super villain community with mixed results.

His Beetle identity has passed among several individuals many of whom died horribly and is currently being used by Janice Lincoln, the daughter of mobster Lonnie Lincoln aka Tombstone.
