i just cant stop coming back to this. i really cant. i just love it so much, everything is perfect, the lighting, sheet covered stool, skin colour, model, just flawless, ive don't think i have ever come back to a piece so much. well thats as much bum love i can distribute for one week.

Very soft and velvet feeling, allthough it is not the easiest of poses the model seems to be ok with it.

I'm sure it's not the model's physique that's the problem, but the way she has her leg up close to her stomach makes her seem a little top-heavy. That's the only gripe I have with it.

Why does she look so 3D? Is there some post work done that I could know about or is it a lighting effect?

I should have posted techie details on this. She was lit with a beauty dish, which is a little contrastier than my usual softbox. There's also a subtle rear-light.

She really Popped right off the backdrop. I mean Popped!!! I don't think I recall you having mentioned a beauty dish since I've started watching you. I really liked how that one turned out. Thank you for letting me know.

My buddy Olaf owns the beauty dish, so I seldom use one. Damn things are expensive and a bit harder light than I like to use, normally. So I only use one when I'm shooting in his studio.

Well you use it well. It definitely added a lot of contrast to the photo that I don't normally see.
That's got to be exspensive if a photographer says its exspensive. LOL. I had to save to just get an entry level Digital SLR.

they're about $300. I know a guy who made one out of an aluminum roaster - about $5.

I apologize for talking about the model first, but she is absolutely stunning! She's got everything you could want in a model. Beautiful and sexy, yet sweet and innocent at the same time. I can only imagine her ability to be a chameleon with that kind of range showing in just a single image.
Tell her I love her.
As for the composition, I don't know how much time you spent on pose and lighting, but I don't think you could have gotten it any better than this. The shadow play between light and dark are outstanding. Even your centering (or cropping) is flawless.
If this is one of the ones you 'overlooked' because you were so enamored by the vase shots, I, for one, really would like to see the rest of the shoot with her.

It's hard, for some reason, to get them to pose for me. I know that sounds weird but it's true. I've noticed a lot of photography happens along racial lines - which I find vaguely ridiculous since this notion of "race" is just bullsh*t anyhow. It's very frustrating.
Anyhow, I'm grateful that I managed to get her in front of my camera even if it was just once.
