Description

4 million years of continous increase in water levels have created the conditions allowing for reliable rainfall in certain areas. South of the Central-lake the first rainforests have formed. This happened from a combination of favorable wind directions and the position of mountains. There, a long mountain chain can be found, streching from west to east, up towards the equator. The range catches the moisture and keeps it there until it rains down on the ground.

This new biome allows life to diversify further and it provides a stable habitat for new species. The landscape is dominated by trees, taller than ever before. Fig and walnut descendants are the most common, but a new contestant is entering the scene.

The mulberry tree has struggled to survive in the past 3 million years, holding on to life with a few houndred induviduals by 500KYPA. But as time went on and the climate changed, they were able to diversify and adapt to the circumstances. Now, because of their favorable fruiting habits, they are spreading rapidly via seed dispersers.

The savannas are taken over by dozens of new grass species and it now resembles the Serengeti of Earth. Further out, the scrublands, spreading much wider than before, provide habitat for the drought tolerant succulents, yuccas and prickly pears.
