Description
At the edge of the scrubland regions, a transitional habitat lies. A place where the life-giving rain only comes a few times in a year. A place where harsh conditions shape the evolution of organisms that live there.
Drought adapted yuccas, agaves and bunchgrasses dominate the landscape. Along with lavender tree descendants, that evolved into smaller more spindly trunked plants.
Geckoes are common in these areas, who mainly hunt insects. For chipmunks, this is a harsh environment. Only a few small species adapted for these outskirts. Tortoises are a keystone species here just like in many places. Their burrows provide much needed shelter for many other animals looking for a cool hideout.
