Description

so uh, up until a couple months ago i was rigging things the hard way. so, manually. meanwhile it was this easy all along so I'm passing along the knowledge with this poorly constructed tutorial! also, thing i forgot to mention, after you've loaded in the weight you can delete the weight text document from the folder & you can delete the skin underneath the clothes so that it doesn't clip

because I'm not posting my model edits as much anymore i figured I'd fill my gallery with tutorials since those are nice to have around,

if you have any questions feel free to drop a comment and I'll try to help as best as i can!

This was helpful, thank you!

Any further tips on how to fix those glitches on the last panel? I modeled a vest from scratch and rigged it with this method, but it deforms too much when my model is moving, I'd like it to be a bit more stiff, but I can't manually weight it to be perfect... I've tried several times, but it still deforms too much, especially when the model's shoulders/arms are raised up... Any tips on how to fix that?

I'm glad it helped a little bit ^^

Unfortunately there is no universal way to rig clothing, it varies depending on the shape of the the clothing, how many vertices it has, what it needs to fit over, etc. No one part is going to rig to the body the same as another part, it honestly just takes a lot of trial and error to get a part rigged just right, I'm afraid I cant really help much

This is the kind of thing I've been dying to know about seriously, this is a big help. I'm not an amateur when working with Pmx but yeah, this really isn't all that known. Thank you for sharing this.

ah, what version of pmx/pmd editor are you using? you might have to install the weight transfer plugin on your version if it doesn't have it or get a different version

I've never had to install them before since the version of pmx editor that i have has all the plugin's preinstalled but this might help: Tutorial - Installing Plugins For Pmx Editor

or if you want a version of pmx with all the plugins installed already this is the version i use: PmxEditor vr.0254f English Version - v1.0
