Great tutorial, though I still sucks at painting even with tablet LOL.
How much time approximately you used on this mane? Of course, if you remember.

It all comes with practice I guess!
And errmm, I don't know for sure. I'd say a safe guess would be about 30 minutes. c:

Which would you recommend? I am looking at Wacom Bamboos, and it can't be too exspensive.... O_o

Well the only one I've tried is the Wacom Bamboo Fun c: That's the one I have, it's grey and as big as my keyboard on my laptop. I love it and the only problem I've ever had with it was easily solved...it cost $100 USD (I was visiting the states at the time), I think. Either that or $200, but it was only more expensive because I got 2 programs with it, including Photoshop Elements 8.0. I don't know enough about others though, like Intuos or anything.

Thankyou for taking the time to make this
Can I ask, what is usually the size of your manipulations in px by px?
Sometimes, when the canvas is too large, when I use a 3px brush it comes out as sorta dotty and...okay let's just say, "not smooth"
And when I have a canvas too small it waaaay too pixellated and I can hardly see what I'm doing.
Very helpful tutorial.

You're welcome, glad it could help you!
And errmmm -quickly looks at files-
My most recent pieces are all between 1000x650px and 1500x1000px. Most of them are actually about 1200x850px (quick average. Here I'll actually post some of them:
"You're my kryptonite" 1041x676
"You found me" 1174x778
"Settle down with me" 1436x938 -I didn't use the same method of painting hair in this one though-
"Dizalgah" 1155x866
"Kanara" 1001x738
Basically, I keep it between 1000 and 1200 for the length and 600-900 for the width. I don't make sure it's those dimensions though, it just sort of happens when I resize it haha. OUO"

Ahh, I see
Those sizes are just about perfect for my computer screen since it's 1600px by something or other.
Thanks!

I have GIMP, and their brushes well... are pixel like no matter what. I tried to download the baisic PS brushes for GIMP, but they dont show up in my brushes tab. Any thoughts?

mockingale In reply to Twisted-Desire [2012-06-13 19:34:37 +0000 UTC]
I'm guessing you did the whole process of unzipping the .ZIP file, and then opening your GIMP brush folder in another window and then dragging the brushes from the unzipped file into the brush folder and all that?
If you did, then I'm afraid I can't help you...it's been a long long time since I used GIMP. :c
But one thing I noticed is I often tried to download PS brushes on GIMP, like the 'very hairy' brushes, but they didn't work (I could access them, but they didn't work like they should have). So maybe it's just incompatibility?
I'm sorry I'm not much of a help.
