This is my entry for the club's Music Inspires us All Contest [link]
This contest has a very cool theme, and contestants were given 7 bands to choose from. We were to pick a song from one of these bands and illustrate the inspiration that followed. I chose Indestructible, by Disturbed, and this dude appeared in my head. Mojo was kind enough to help me transfer him to paper.
So this is Venn Daemon, a mercenary Captain who plys his bloody trade up and down Faerun's sword coast. I think the song describes his mentality fairly accurately.
This is almost entirely pen and ink, but I posted as mixed media because the quasi-background was added in post-scan edit. And if anyone is interested in coloring this piece, I have a linework only version that you can use; just let me know.

By the way, you know what this reminds me of? The game art that was included with the old Warcraft II booklet, by Chris Metzen. Don't know why I only noticed it now...

I've certainly heard of it, and can even conjure up a half-image of the cover art on the box, but other than that, I've never played it. I will definately see what I can find on the concept art, though. Thanks.

Well, I have been doing a lot of research for magazine publications that will pay you for illustrations. A lot of them do require pen and ink drawings for their interior illustrations. I don't know which ones to recommend, I mostly do horror but a lot of them are on the same lists. Just do an search for art submission guidelines for fantasy magazines/publications, etc. whatever you want to submit to. You should find a lot. There is a website...I don't think I have it bookmarked on this computer but it will give you information on what publications are shady and what are straight up with artists, authors, etc. I bet you can find that too. This work you did is good illustrative work. I think you could sell it and others. Each magazine offers different prices and licenses agreements. Just don't give it completely away, don't let them gain all rights forever or it is no longer yours. Most have a certain amount of time to them and then it reverts back to you. That should also be stated on their submission guidelines also. Good luck!
