Prev /NextWhile it may not be much, Derpy was always a strong supporter of the war effort. If Dinky Doo could have even a slight chance at a life free from the horrors of war, Derpy would make sure it happened. Anything for her daughters future.
In two hundred years her hope for Silver Bell is the same, but when the Enclave arrive Derpy can't let this happen again. The war took Dinky, it wasn't going to take Silver Bell from her as well.
There are minutes remaining.
Edit: Just got permission to use 's Fallout:Equestria posters (yay!), which are there as a hint that something is about to happen. Links and hopefully a little morbid curiosity for those that don't know what Fallout:Equestria is:

What's wrong with that Shadowbolt's face? At first, I thought that was somehow Derpy, but she's in the background, which makes the Shadowbolt looking like that weird.
Also, why are they dressed like the Shadowbolts when the Shadowbolts were evil creations of a despot (that only Rainbow Dash ever saw)? That would be like color guard showing up at a halftime show dressed as the SS.

The Shadowbolts were formed as a real thing by Rainbow Dash during the war in this story. The idea I guess being Dash thought they had a cool design so she copied it. If I recall they were like Wonderbolts but extra elite.Β

It took ages to figure out how to do it without multiple layers after the color adjustments, but it has some glitches around the edges of the characters and so on.

Ironically, those soldiers are mostly going to end up dead whilst Derpy will end up an Element of Harmony and one of the saviours of the world.

That would be coincidence, not irony.
Irony would be... lets see... if everypony survived the explosion, maybe? Irony is when it's the reverse of what you would expect, like a firetruck that is literally on fire.
However, most of them will not survive so it's not really ironic. However, all of the ones fighting in the war do so to protect Derpy as well as the rest. Sure they mock her, but they would also do their damnedest to protect her from a zebra attacker when the time came. If they knew what Derpy would do for Equestria when her time came then no, they wouldn't be mocking her right now.

It could be considered ironic that the residents of New Appaloosa, many of whom make the town's militia, are the ones that up being protected by Derpy - the one pony they would never expect to be protected by. Many of the residents considered Derpy defenceless at best, and a ticking time bomb at worst (some believed that ghoul ponies turn feral eventually).

Ghoul ponies do turn feral, some sooner than others. She's not immortal, just decaying slower than most.
And Derpy doesn't so much protect them as save them, protection being the defense from harm and ultimately ponies still died even after she lent her aid. They just weren't obliterated.

I had to include some sort of moral problem, Fallout had some very minor ones throughout the introduction such as whether to save Butch's mother from the radroaches or not.

If you haven't read Fallout:Equestria by Kkat then it's a big spoiler, so...

Silver Bell is the adopted daughter of Ditzy Doo (or Derpy if you prefer) who had lost her parents to raiders that murdered them in front of the children. Had it not been for Silver Bell using her magic (music) at the wrong moment they would likely have survived. Her siblings died soon after to various causes, leaving Silver Bell alone. The main characters stumble across her Pinkie Pie museum and only discover what happened after stealing a recording by her (dead) older sister.
She had cut off her own horn and painted herself pink and named herself Pinkie Bell in an attempt to bring joy back into her life, but her manic behavior belied that something was wrong.
Once adopted and eventually healed (they used magic to heal her horn days after they met) she lived with Ditzy until the rescue of Littlepip from the location of a nuclear explosion, resulting in Ditzy becoming heavily irradiated and unsafe to stand next to for even a few seconds.
Ultimately upon returning from an attempt to purge the radiation faster the city Silver Bell was in was under attack, and Ditzy...
In my imaginings the internal conflict was that her real daughter had died because of the war and now she hadn't had a chance to say goodbye to Silver Bell.

I do love Ditzy very much as a character, when she made a squeal of horror when she found out the Enclave were heading toward New Apploosa it wrenched my heart out.

I really hope I get the ending right, I'm thinking of altering what I have for something with more impact rather than what I currently have. I get the feeling a lot of... people will be confused about what it means.
Maybe if I do something like a flash-forward, that would help and I'd get to draw somepony other than long-dead ponies and Derpy.

You don't want to make it oversimplified either. The flash-forward is a good idea though.
