Description EDIT 9/17/09
This is uploaded over the other one so that I don't have two marker guides in my gallery. That would be silly.
I'll prolly post the old on on my website so that it's still accessible. I just have to set up a gallery on there.

Um. I don't know if this one looks any better than the other one, but it's certainly more comprehensive and less sleep deprived. I spent a good portion of monday night/tuesday morning coloring until my carpal tunnel kicked in and I had to stop. And compiling this only took two hours.

If there are any questions, or something you'd like me to add a section on. Drop a comment and I can easily edit the photoshop file.

In the fur texture section, there is a lighting change. Because 9AM is brighter than 1AM. The lab/great dane mix is one of my first attempts at actually texturing short fur. Normally I just...don't. eheheh.

Great! What kind of paper do you use? I've been using cardstock and some marker paper (canson) and it doesn't look as smooth as your drawings :s

I heard that you can "refill" your prismacolor markers just by adding 91% alcohol that you buy from the drugstore. I haven't tried it yet, but all this time growing up how I used to put water in crayola and sharpie markers just to get it to work.  Alcohol, makes sense.   www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9c372...

What colors would you use for a dark tan skin?

Thank you so much. I saw a realistic portrait made using markers. I can use all of the tutorials on markers I can get. I wish to get to the point of being as comfortable with markers as I am with fine tipped ink (my medium of choice for the moment). Thanks again.

Thank you for this tutorial. There aren't many prismacolor marker tutorials out there anymore. The blending tip really helps, it reminds me of the way I blend shades with colored pencils. The only thing I'm worried about is the streak-age.
Well, we'll just see how this has helped me out later!

I'm so jealous of you marker collection Great tutorial you have here, I'm sure it will become very helpful.
One question, are there any colors you would really suggest for caucasian skin tones? I already have eggshell which I use a lot, and light peach too.

This is pretty epic, but I have a question. I only have one primsacolor marker and it's dying on me now. How can you make it last longer? Since I'm thinking on buying another one.

MorgueMonster In reply to shyBUTartistic [2011-04-03 01:04:09 +0000 UTC]

I've finally went through and got rid of all of my dying ones. Roughly 40 went byes. :C
I haven't played around with keeping them around longer. I've heard you can dilute the nib, but I've never tried it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MorgueMonster In reply to Cutetreatsbyjany [2010-09-09 20:54:08 +0000 UTC]

I buy like...the 50 packs of 80lb cardstock. They work for markers great (bleed through the other side though), and they are smooth. I can't stand texture so I love these. Purchaseable at Wal*Mart, Meijer, Staples. Wherever that would sell office supplies.

Thnank you :33

I really like this tutorial. I only have prismacolor markers right now, I hope to convince my Fiance to buy me the Manga Wallet Copics for Christmas lol. But, I never really could figure out how to blend nicely. I am going to try this method.

This helps out a lot! Thank you for posting this! :3 I have a question for ya though, do you use super thick paper?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MorgueMonster In reply to z7MoonChild7z [2011-01-21 16:00:11 +0000 UTC]

ugh late reply, sorry!

I use 80pound cardstock for everything. It's smooth, and it still leaks through the back a little, but it absorbs the marker wonderfully unlike 20lb printer paper.
