So how do you think the Edges will react to Guilliman respawning?

Don't imagine it'll be relevant to them tbh.

Did everyone from the Edges die before Guilliman resurected?

I imagine some of them are glad, I guess? But my 40k writing tends to be fairly time locked to late 90s 40k canon.

Considering how ridiculously huge the setting is and how fickle the warp, the administratum, military command, and how zealous and paranoid inquisitors are, it's entirely possible for the Emperor himself to come back from the dead and a large part of the galaxy not even hearing about it in their lifetimes.

It seems bizarre for someone so hell-bent (er warp-bent?) on being a hard case to call someone Milly.
Also, you wear it because shoulder-boards be pimpin' yo!

You wear it for you.
Not for anyone else, an ideal, or a purpose.
For you.
At least, that's how I interpret it.

That seems like it would be quite the opposite of subsuming your own needs for the needs of something larger than yourself, which is kind of a necessary part of being any sort of soldier.

What I meant was when it all comes down to what you have, what do you really have? What keeps you fighting? What keeps you sane when the bombs are dropping? By keeping what you have, then giving it your all, you essentially do all you can.
Maybe it isn't your uniform for most people, but I would beg to differ in WH40K sense. That's what I see at least.

I get what you're saying, but that's my point. That's coming at the issue from an individualist perspective. That's not what motivates soldiers to fight at all. It's nothing that they have as to who they're with:
usacac.army.mil/sites/default/…
Excerpt:
"Different things motivate different individuals to fight. However, researchers generally believe that five factors kindle and sustain a fighting spirit: group cohesion, unit allegiance and pride, ideology and patriotism, lack of alternatives, self-preservation and leadership.
However, all these motivating factors tend to deteriorate after prolonged exposure to combat except one: small unit cohesion.3 The strongest motivation for enduring combat, especially for US soldiers, is the bond formed among members of a squad or platoon. This cohesion is the single most important sustaining and motivating force for combat soldiers.4 Simply put, soldiers fight because of the other members of their small unit."
In stories people fight for a cause (freedom, their country, justice, etc) or for other people not there (families, lovers and so on), or because of duty and other concepts. In reality, most people fight because they form bonds with the people around them, and they don't want to fail them or see them die.

In reality, people detest the random jerks they've been assigned with, on the human level. The "bond" is more likely just pack instinct emerging under threat.
Also, it does not explain why they obey their large-unit commanders.

Discworld. Granny Weatherwax doesn't practice psychology, she practices headology.
So if someone's convinced that there are monsters coming to get them, she doesn't try to figure out what root trauma is producing delusions. She gives them a heavy stick to carry around.

It's technically a sort of a mind game, based on what people think. Like the witch's hat: everyone knows witches wear those huge black hats, right? So the hat is a witch's hat because one wears it and one is a witch due to the appropriate hat So, is that the gist behind the uniforms?

We have uniforms so that no one stands out and becomes a main character. If someone went out and got a tattoo or piercing or bandana or something we'd be stuck being background fodder for their inevitable sole survivor story.
On a serious note, I'm having a lot of fun with these. You've said before that you really like Minhelm as a character and it shows.

Mordian Iron Guards are always tough cookies to break. Until they get in front of a Tau fireline. Their pride can't protect enough.

More of Minhelm, awesome
So three things,
Minhelm has some arms on her
Her hair style keeps changing
And one day she will get why they wear the uniform, she can fight, but her instructor is trying to instill in her the proper mindset that makes an Iron guard.
Loving this series Mr. C
I am curious to know what they are singing, and if its the "I don't know what I've been told" marching chant.

It occurred to me that in 3 years or so, neither Minhelm (17) or Garven (60) are going to age that much, so I showed the passage of time by changing Minhelm's hair and making her grow slightly taller. And sure, on paper she will earn the uniform, but will she know why?
The song in the background is indeed that cadence
