Description
So you may think that all I do is comics. Not so! I also do comics-RELATED things. This, for example, is one of a series I'm working on for Vanguard Miniatures in the UK, to support their excellent minis line Defeat in Detail. Set in the far future in a region of fractious states, planets and colonies called Tusculum Nova, the line is widely known as one of the best-made and most detailed series of gaming miniatures, and has helped popularize the "6mm scale" renaissance which has been occurring in gaming communities in recent years. And one of the iconic vehicles they produce is the Centurion Main Battle Tank , shown here in all its tanky glory.Thought it might be fun to look at, since my 6-Commando vehicle specs are generally pretty well-received, so I post this by permission of Vanguard Miniatures.

Probably one of those companies who make proxy 40k models.

I wonder if one can get crucified for using those models in... Epic?
Anyway, looks great. However it's a pity that they haven't used this chance to "modernize" design a bit(I see some improvements though) or at least expand the turret.
Superb art.

This looks like the Leman Russ tank from Warhammer 40k

Yep deffinitely Leman Russ. At leat the turret to cannon size ratio is less riddiculous.
Wait... Does that mean it has been... Modified?

Hey, if GW wants to abandon 6mm, they should know this sort of thing is going to happen.

Thanks for the awesome, but can't speak to the "ripoff." I just drew one of the miniatures they've had on offer for years. But I do like the design - has a lot of the retro-futuristic aesthetics I like about 40K, The Ion Age, and Mutant Chronicles.

Yup, they have also destroyed one of the best universes out there with non stop retconning.

Remember when the Space Marines used camouflage, and the Imperial Guard had access to Land Raiders and Rhinos?
Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I do agree that this looks rather "40k-ish", but that is Vanguard's style. But I do love your work.

I work with the material at hand. I think the style is a nice balance, and seeing their developing game storyline, it's something all its own. Although for those who want a good proxy miniature and are willing to tolerate the differences, this is a nice option over 3D prints, re-casts and other such tomfoolery.

After looking over the minis on their site, I am utterly convinced that the reason Games Workshop isn't suing the fuck out of Vanguard is because GW hasn't noticed them yet. Those are some of the most blatant ripoffs of Imperial hardware I've ever seen!

I hate to say it - for the reason that GWs Leman Russ battletank is basing on old worldwar I conceptions and so didn´t have much right to be called 'the original' - but it looks in many small detailes like the Leman Russ. Finaly it could be a mod of a planetary defense force. Even the weapon loudout and design elements looks close to the GW-idea, or at last inspired by them. The names of pattern and forces didn´t make it much better.
But really, i still think the basic design isen't able to get called original by GW, so if you mod some GW-specific designs(plasma-cannon in the left-down version for example) you can't avoid the (inevitable) indignation of the GW fanbase(that didn´t realize anyone else can have design ideas expect GW :/ People of a closed universe ... GW is a religion, not a brand x.x).

Yeah, if it available in same scale this would be a good proxy for Leman Russ.

I believe they're popular as proxies for the old Epic scale minis from GW, but they're an independent property.
