Description
Here's my fanmade character select screen for Sengoku Basara X2.
In 2008, Capcom teamed up with Arc System Works, the devs behind Guilty Gear, BlazBlue and Persona 4 Arena, to make a spin-off 2D fighting game using the Sengoku Basara series. The game was basically a standard 2D fighter like Guilty Gear with an Assist/Striker mecanic, similar to KOF 99, 2000, and 2001. The game got a console release, but never an English version, mostly due to the first SB game's english version, renamed Devil Kings, along with altered names, didn't sell well.
However, in 2010, Capcom released worldwide Sengoku Basara 3, renamed Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes, with real names and decent voicework. The anime was also released in English. So, with the upcoming release of Sengoku Basara 4, maybe Capcom could make another fighting game using the series, but this time, using their own resources.
Here's what I have in mind:
- 2D fighting game with 3D graphics, much like Capcom's recent fighting games
- game using the UMvC3 engine, since it's the closest engine that Capcom has to mimic SBX's gameplay
- same controls/mecanics as SBX, including super moves, Strikers and OHKOs after certain requirements
- might need a combo breaking mecanic, such as the Mega Crash or Burst.
- Japanese/English voicework
- character music themes for each character, of course
- stages spanning the entire series
- Arcade, training, survival, challenges, multiplayer (offline, online, tournaments, endless battles, etc.)
- roster, with new additions:

* Masamune Date, with Kojuro Katakura and Itsuki as assists

(I used the UMvC3 wolf form, since there's already a moveset for it, but here's my idea for her. It is rumored that Ammy has a human form, as a shinto priest near the Gale Shrine could see her "true" form. I envision her to be similar to this fav.me/d2369q8 (art made by Genzoman). Her fighting style would be using the sword and mirror as the classic sword-&-shield stance, with the beads as a secondary weapon. She would also be redesigned to match SB's character designs. Issun would be the same as in Okami, except much bigger, much like his legend in which he gets hit by a magical hammer to make him grow to regular size. Waka would be of the same design. As the Goddess of the Sun, she descends upon Japan to investigate a dark and threatening power: Nobunaga Oda himself.)
* Soki, with Akane Yagyu and Roberto Frois as assists (Onimusha: Dawn of Dream)
(Not much design change to be made for these three, but their connections to their own versions of some of SB characters would be make their additions decent and fitting. The trio finds a secret passage leading to another dimension, and upon seeing how not much different Hideyoshi Toyotomi is in this realm, they decide to take matter in their own hands, hoping to also change the outcome back in their own dimension.)
* Dante, with Trish and Lady as assists (Devil May Cry)
(Can't get enough of your favorite demon hunter, can you? In an over-the-top fighting game with over-the-top characters, Dante would be a natural fit to the game, not to mention that in previous SB games Masamune and Yukimura could get weapons based off DMC's weapons. While a little anachronistic, it wouldn't matter that much, especially since Nobunaga uses a shotgun and Magoichi uses both a shotgun and an assault rifle. Dante, Trish and Lady receive a mission to travel through a gate back in time to kill a demon, which happens Nobunaga Oda, the Demon King.)
Rounding this roster up, that's 35 playable characters
That would be a nice spin-off to get ^_^

Why not have Yoshimoto, Xavi, and Itsuki as the last 3, rather than Guests?

Yoshimoto keeps getting off very early in the series and isn't much important; both Xavi and Itsuki were only featured in Sengoku Basara 1. I feel like they wouldn't be as developped in terms of attacks than the other characters.

To elaborate my reasons better, I just felt like these three characters aren't as well developped character-wise and gameplay-wise to be added. Yoshimoto gets killed off every single time and very early, like the historical record of his early death during the war, and I would have gotten trouble finding suitable assists for him. Itsuki is a fictional character created to be a joke character, and her motives didn't much appeal to me, but she is an Assist for Masamune... which is a much better choice than his annoying pompous uncle Yoshiaki Mogami. Xavi, again, is a fictonal character that felt shoved in for no reason, especially since SB3 added Sorin Otomo and Muneshige Tachibana from the same clans and alliances, but I did put Xavi as an Assist for Xavi.
As for the 3 guests, well... after seeing that there are many Capcom cameos in the games, such as costumes and DMC weapons, I kept thinking "Why not put actual cameo characters to help the sales?". All 3 guests can be easily added to the game. Sure, it takes the spot for other characters, like Sasuke Sarutobi now that I think of it, but they would fit in a fighting game like this... and they are still in the very minority compared to the rest of the roster.
