Description ...(Remake)
S4ME is back, guys, isn't this amazing?

Edit 1 [1/12/2017]:
I have recently been criticized, I shalln't name the culprit, but safe to say, he's not hard to find, just scroll down. Anyhow, they thought this work wasn't up to standard, so I took it upon myself to improve it, to make it more varying, to make it larger, to make it better in every single way. Also, with that, I expanded the sources paragraph. So, my dear critic, up yours!

So, time for another scene from S4ME, don't you agree? This is the (descriptively titled) Volcanic Mines Zone, a mine used to mine minerals, in a volcano (told you the title was descriptive, also, it's better than the usual stages' names of mine). Starting under the ruins of Tidal Ruins Zone and ending just outside of Speed City's Bright Night outskirt, this Zone was supposed to connect these 2 Zones.

As for the image itself (you should know how it works by now), it is one of the most extensive Zones I've ever made for S4ME. What you cannot see in this image is that I didn't just make a BG and some tiles, but a whole 3 Act tileset, together with backgrounds, boss and some objects. The GetterRobotnik Image a few days back was e.g. the boss of this zone (however not the original I had anticipated for S4ME). This is because I'm using it as a temporarial tileset for a Zone I'm helping to design for a fangame, though I won't say which one it is.
Now, let's get to the sources, at least the visible ones, shall we? The main ground is from Scrambled Egg Zone (Sonic 2 (8-Bit), ripped from the map hosted on SonicRetro), only reshaded. The rails Sonic is running on are from Mystic Cave Zone (ripped by Flare), while the minecarts (both fore- and background) are from Underground Zone (ripped by Technokami), only edited to have "normal" wheels. This is also where most of the bricks came from, as seen on the updated version of the image. The wooden supports are from Lava Reef Zone (SkyLights was the ripper, this time), while the lantern is taken from Mystic Cave Zone (again, Flare). As for the BG, it is mostly taken from Quartz Quadrant Zone (Past, ripped by Divine Insect), with the Lava from Marble Zone (again, Divine Insect's work) applied to it. There's a few parts made with Ristar background (ripped by DarkChaoX/Shiro) with some heavily edited Mega Man the Wily Wars backdrops thrown in for good measure (extracted from screenshots by me).

That's it for now, folks, stay tuned for more in the future!

Sonic the Hedgehog is respectivly owned by Sega of Japan Ltd.

Looks like underground zone from Sonic The Hedgehog 2 On Sega Master System and Sega Game Gear from October 1992

What exactly is it that you're after? If you just want some lava, least I can do is refer you to some rips, SonicDash's are pretty good:

I myself took the Marble Zone ones and recoloured them for this.
If you are looking for the lava above, then you already know the trick, it's Marble Zone lava recoloured and it's hardly difficult to do it yourself using the rips above and the palette from the image. Can't really help you if you're looking for custom lava however, I never was too great at drawing that myself.

Eh... This one doesn't look so good. Using unreshaded Game Gear graphics really hurts this one> Plus it looks too much like a cross between Lava Reef and Scrambled Egg.

would this be a minecart level like in DKC? ^^

Not really (not having played DKC I'm not exactly the best to talk though). I would rather describe them to be like a mix of the minecarts in Underground Zone (S2-8Bit) and the ones in Lost World. Some can be ridden (passive/non-controllable, however), others act as obstacles, basically.
