Boltax [link] , awesome TF artist, recently commented (positively) on my changeover to solid blacks, which I'd mentioned in the Shattered Glass Optimus Prime [link] piece. And that reminded me of this piece, which was one of the very first I did experimenting with that. It was just a silly doodle of SkullMan in straight inks (no penciling at all) that, being February at the time, took on a sick dimension.I'm pretty sure that it was the Teen Titans cartoon that really got me keen on the solid blacks. I'd been doing the "use a dark charcoal" thing and... I don't think I was ever happy with it. With the bright colors I favored elsewhere, it just didn't work. The blacks enhance my normal "animation cel" look, give it some real depth and contrast.

I'd accept them! I like SkullMan. He's misunderstood...maybe. Or psychotic. And sometimes it'd be nice to have a psycho robot to sic on people. You know what I mean?

Well, that does answer my question. There are two Skull Man, or two different interpretations of Skull Man. Depending on the media of origin, Skull Man is either Kalinka's protector or a fighting robot Wily forced Cossack to make and just doesn't know anything else but fighting.
I was wondering which you were.
I think Skull Man is in my...top....10, maybe top 5, Robot Masters. I just like his aesthetics and his ability. His stage is pretty cool too. I wish he'd had been in the Ruby Spears series, granted they might have gone with the more scary version of him, but I'd like to have seen what they could have done.
