Definitely one of the most peculiar and awesome creatures in your gallery. The expression, and the arm and hand and horns and ears are lovely, as is the little round suited man he's holding - looks like one of those russian Matryoshka dolls you put in each other.

what type of paints do you use for these?

they are slips and underglazes. the slips are a form of liquid clay that has colorants added to them. The underglazes are pretty much like a glaze without the glass elements added (or really, just very little of them) so that it isn't shiny.
