Description Tried out Anime Studio. I like it. Seems much easier to use than Flash.

Wow, great to see you using Anime Studio! I've been trying to promote the program to muscle girl art community for the past 5 years. You got a really awesome result with it as well!

Nah, I'm not involved with the software or the company in any official way. I just really love animation featuring muscular female characters, and since there are very few commercial animations like that, I just thought it could be an efficient way for the community to start creating our own.

Nice arm action you got going. I used to use anime studio for my flash animations but for some reason they always seem to fall apart at some point when exporting. Lovely character

Oh... That doesn't sound very good. Hopefully they've fixed those bugs since then. I especially like the IK setup. I've found I can rig up a body really quickly by using lots of small bones, which helps prevent distortion at the joints. Still figuring it all out though.

I like the layer switch feature, I just wish you could assign points to switching bones. I was trying to figure out how to have front 3/4 and side view bones so that i could do body turns/head turns etc. Still have had no luck. Good program tho

I haven't really tried out the layer switching yet, but I got the idea the main use of it was lipsynching (and other facial expressions).

Not sure what you mean when you say "assign points to switching bones".

How would it help you do body turns?

The thing that's driving me mad is the limitations on using control bones. I know I can make a bone automatically rotate when a control bone does... But what I really need for convincing biceps is a bicep bone that scales when the forearm rotates. There seems to be no way to do it, except manually.

What I do really like is the way that shapes are bound to an underlying mesh, rather than each shape having it's own points (as in flash). Makes it sooo much easier to manipulate a complex shape like a body.

With the assigning points to switching bones- I think what I meant is that it would be groovy if I could switch out a main bone like a hip or torso bone so that when I would switch bones, there would be a new set of objects for the new bones to move. (I am still not making sense i bet d'oh)

I think theres a way to program some features into new buttons using Lua programming language. I bet someone has already figured a solution to the automatic bone triggering (to help with movement flexing)

Still not completely sure what you mean. But nevermind. I like the sound of this Lua scripting business though... After initially being very impressed with Anime Studio, I'm now finding more and more limitations - maybe writing custom scripts will overcome some of them.

As for bones, I'm trying out another project which isn't using bones at all. Just hand animating each frame. I think the result, although slower, is far more satisfying to look at. If you rely on bones for the movement, you always end up with something that looks rubbery and flat (which of course, in real life, it is).
