Description
Constructed many years ago by and ancient civilization and powered by dark glyphs and runes, they are worshipped by the populace. Unbelievably powerful and ulmost invincible, these mechanical behemoths can be called to do ones bidding through a complex ritual and the possesion of various mysterious artifacts. Although the process to control these ancient beasts is dangerous and difficult, the pure destructive force those who do complete the rituals are able to harness is almost unfathomable. Some are driven mad by the power, while others are found husks of their formers selves, their souls ripped from their bodies. However, these "Old Gods" may soon be needed, as hordes of demons threaten to overcome mankind. But, will even they be enough.Since they were created originally as war machines, the remaining behemoths are made of a thick metal, unpenetrable by almost any means, and they all posess weapons and strengths of immense power. Sometimes however, these weapons of destruction show glimpses of conciousness inside their metal shells. Is there something we're missing about these ancient machines?
----Data log: Origin
Origin, as this specific machine has been named carries a scythe capable of decimating entirre cities in one blow. It once possesed the power to destroy the very fabric of reality with the wave of its hand, but the salvaged ancient texts suggest that it lost the use of this power in a battle with another machine of its calibur. However, if it was to somehow regain this power, it would be regarded as one of the most powerful Ancients to date.
Origin's glyphs allow it and parts of its body to basically float, practically immune to the effects of gravity, thus, it is very fast for an object of its immense size (although this is still not very fast) As Origin's name suggest, it was one of the first ancients mentioned in ancient texts, leading us to believe it as one of the first ones built.
I hope you like this one everybody! I colored a lot faster this time, thanks to techniques learned from a FAQ , and the fact that I didn't go overboard on the layers this time
I decided against using the pre-made lighting effects in PS for the light near the top of the pic, and I thought the one I made turned out pretty well, so tell me what you think about that please
That's all for now, thanks to for sitting there while I colored and giving some awesome suggestions.

you were right--this is crazy
I like the overall construction of it. You still get the feel of it, as though there were a solid form there, but obviously, there isn't.
I really like the little red graphics.

This is by far the best in your gallery.
The only thing I can find fault with are the clouds, which are of a different texture to the rest. Apart from that I can find very little to fault.

Yeah, I used the cloud brush, so I suspect they do look a bit different
Thank you very much for the comment

Oh. My. God.
Mark, you get better and better all the time, but this is like, by far my favourite art I've seen from you. It's really different from what you normally draw though: is this someone else's character? I was too lazy to read the entire "artist's comments" shit. But it's even a different style. Cool!
Ahem. My Critique.
First off, I'm a little irked that the clouds or whatever they are are in front of his body. That may be a colouring thing or something, but it's annoying. Other than that, you're coming along really well with how you colour. I've never tried colouring on the computer but I'm sure it's very time consuming to do so. Bravo for finishing it.
Second off, this gives a good idea of where the arms and torso should be based on the little floating sheets of metal. Verr nice! One of them is missing a hand, or is the hand a syth? If he raises his hand will he decapitate somebody? *laughes a little* sorry, sorry, I didn't get enough sleep....moving on, imagine how akward it would look when he DID raise his arm. Just picture it. It looks really wierd.
What else do I have to say today? Not that much, actually, except the thing sticking out of the shoulder armor on what is MY right is a little off- the one to the top. It irks me.
Other than that, very smoothly done. It really reminds me of something drawn in a book I have on character design and combinations of animals and humans, inanimate objects, etc. You actually might want to borrow it: it sparks great creativity, has beautiful illustrations, and not to mention is an interesting read.
All in all, my favourite work from you so far. Keep this sort of stuff coming, or so help me Fru and I will storm your house.
.......AGAIN.
*faves*

This is my character, even if it does look a little different ^^ Coloring on the computer does take some time...but I'm starting to do it a bit faster, and having a tablet helps. Yeah, the hand's a scythe sorry about the shoulder thing, I can kind of see what you mean
I'm glad you liked it, and I'm sorry I didn't get this comment to you sooner, I was trying to think of how to answer it ^^
I might have to borrow that book sometime
