Description
Constructed many years ago by and ancient civilization and powered by dark glyphs and runes, they are worshipped by the populace. Unbelievably powerful and ulmost invincible, these mechanical behemoths can be called to do ones bidding through a complex ritual and the possesion of various mysterious artifacts. Although the process to control these ancient beasts is dangerous and difficult, the pure destructive force those who do complete the rituals are able to harness is almost unfathomable. Some are driven mad by the power, while others are found husks of their formers selves, their souls ripped from their bodies. However, these "Old Gods" may soon be needed, as hordes of demons threaten to overcome mankind. But, will even they be enough.Since they were created originally as war machines, the remaining behemoths are made of a thick metal, unpenetrable by almost any means, and they all posess weapons and strengths of immense power. Sometimes however, these weapons of destruction show glimpses of conciousness inside their metal shells. Is there something we're missing about these ancient machines?
----Data log: Origin
Origin, as this specific machine has been named carries a scythe capable of decimating entirre cities in one blow. It once possesed the power to destroy the very fabric of reality with the wave of its hand, but the salvaged ancient texts suggest that it lost the use of this power in a battle with another machine of its calibur. However, if it was to somehow regain this power, it would be regarded as one of the most powerful Ancients to date.
Origin's glyphs allow it and parts of its body to basically float, practically immune to the effects of gravity, thus, it is very fast for an object of its immense size (although this is still not very fast) As Origin's name suggest, it was one of the first ancients mentioned in ancient texts, leading us to believe it as one of the first ones built.
I hope you like this one everybody! I colored a lot faster this time, thanks to techniques learned from a FAQ , and the fact that I didn't go overboard on the layers this time
I decided against using the pre-made lighting effects in PS for the light near the top of the pic, and I thought the one I made turned out pretty well, so tell me what you think about that please
That's all for now, thanks to for sitting there while I colored and giving some awesome suggestions.

Woah -how did you do it? It just... floats and it look amazing!
I love the coloring and the way he's standing in the sun... It deserves way more faves than it has now! And you also did a great job with his body, the angles of his runes... It just works out to make such a lovely picture!

Favs are always nice I'm very happy you like it, especially the sun effect, because I decided to try and do the lighting effect by hand instead of using the PS render effect. Thanks again
and thanks for the fav

Wow! That's absolutely incredible! Your coloring is great! The design is so abstract but, somehow, befitting! I love the shape. I wish I could tell you what you needed to know, but I'm so in awe!

This looks really good. I love how you colored it. I personally find the crisp unblurred lines of color very attractive. That's a personal touch. The details that you've put into this are really nice as well. I love the grass. My grass always sucks.
I think it would look ever better if you learned how to utilize the pen tool to get rid of the pencil lines. I'm just starting to learn how to use it myself and it does help to give the image an even cleaner look. They have tutorials for it on DA if you've never used it before. Otherwise, the image is quite majestic. Origin seems very powerful. You have a wonderful imagination that is shown quite clearly in your description of the piece.

Thank you so much for this comment. One of the reasons I decided to try coloring again was because of your great, "The Wandering Jentesian," so this means a lot to me
I'm honored
I'll check out the pen tool soon (Does it save time over trying to erase everything?) By the way, my secret to grass is actually a special brush in PS that looks like a sprig of grass. Then, you have to use it (a few times w/ some different shades) to get a grass effect
It's pretty simeple...but looks nice
thanks again

Haha, really? I feel honored myself that I was inspiring to someone.
The pen tool doesn't seem to save alot of time because when I use the pen tool it takes me longer to finish an image. I'm not done with my current image yet, but that's because I'm having background issues. It takes some patience but the end result from what I've seen so far seems to be worth it for a cleaner image.
Oh! I found a really cool coloring tutorial the other day that seems to help alot with keeping certain sections of coloring from interferring with others, like if you were doing a person to prevent the hair from messing up the skin. You should check it out~ Here's the link: [link]
Thank you so much for the tip on the grass. I'll try looking for that pesky brush and playing with it. Grass is one of the main issues I'm having with my current piece.

Very nice, but all I have to say is smudge the part where your base color turns into the shaded area. It'll make it look better.

I guess, but I used different colors and stuff to give it a grass-ier effect, so it wasn't totally cheap right?
