I tried this in black and white and realized it lowered the randomness. When you are in the middle of NYC, there is no lowering of randomity... it's busy and loud and dirty and bright and human. The color captures it better even though I don't recall thinking about these colors when I was there. Strange to me...Related content

Yes it is. I'd often wander the streets in midtown and watch the foreign sounding tourists and the way they would interact (or avoid) the "locals".

I like how you took this from some what of a side street.
Trash in the gutter, etc., is more noticeable.
I do remember seeing quite a few vendors ( hot dog & otherwise ) down the side streets...and wish my friends had gone slower so I could have grabbed shots like this.
Imagine what that vendor sees everyday...you brought a bit of that to us...cool.

I spent some time on the side streets...looking for local color, etc. it was interesting to me. I love hot dog sellers in any city.

Thanks. When i was in NYC, it seemed like I couldn't get a good shot, but when i got home and looked at these it really seemed to capture the feeling.

You're right -- this shot needs color. I like how all of the people are slightly blurred -- makes it seem even more random and rushed.

This is great, shows the city life in NY as it actually is. Great different colours- the greyish, brownish and greenish work together with the neon signs. THink that's the streets architects' work, though.. but great shot!
