Description
I don't recall how I got this photo... maybe a long bulb release, or time release. But it's completely analog. I printed it, hand colored it, sepia-ed it... the works. After scanning here, I handled the obvious spots from dust. Otherwise, all the weird stuff is in processing.
Oh, I want to mention that each of the children are exactly like that today...just older with new clothes, hair and all...

I used to dress my son just like the little guy on the left. He had a navy blue shorts with suspenders outfit made of wool that I'd put a white turtle-neck shirt and knee socks with. He looked so John Johnish!
What a lovely family, I love the idea of taking a up-tp-date photo of everyone in the same positions.

the hardest part is getting them all together at the same time and in a cooperative mood.

i don't know where you are, but no one ever relaxes here. It dense population makes it difficult...or that is my theory

that is what happens. My children all come here to the lake... very small town and that does it most of the time. We eat too much, drink a little bit, laugh a lot, talk, swim, float, do silly things, dance, sing . . . and just generally relax. (on occasion my one son has had trouble with it because he owned his own business and it was always on his mind.) I lived in southern california for a very long time and it is definitely much more difficult to relax.. no doubt about that.

I know a family who has been taking the same photo of everyone by the Christmas tree for years, it's really fun to see them all changing.

You must feel great pride in raising your most important creations. When was this photograph taken? As a pair of wall hangers, it might be neat to recreate this pose in a more modern treatment?

It is such a great idea to recreate it. I'm going to try this summer. I do take enormous pride. They are such great kids, each one creative, intelligent, gentle and humorous .. and successful. And best of all, they still like me.

what an adorable shot, the little guy in the front has the best smile, he really lights up. I have a few shots like that when we were kids
