Description
I got a Holga last year. This is the first shot I'm posting from it. I loved the light and the scene because it reminds me of my childhood and carefree summer days.Related content

I like the simplicity in this photo. The lines are also well composed.

I know the feeling. The first day we arrived here in Long Beach, I was freaking out with the excitement of walking around in shirtsleeves and sun on my back.

Excellent & I'm happy to see you finally using the Holga. Are you processing your own prints? Love the atmosphere, perhaps we can discover a portal to worlds we want to explore?

I am processing the film myself right now. I have some color (c-41) that I need to have developed though.

This sort of reminds me of some of the ones I did last fall on peoples porch and yard furniture. I probably will do more this summer, too.

I love summers and especially summers up here in Northern Michigan where it's still rural and old fashioned in so many ways.

there is! and it exists up here in Northern Michigan.

You would think it would exist here, too. Wenatchee is such a small community, but maybe because it is between Spokane and Seattle it cannot rest.

Yah...When my parents and I first went to Phoenix in 1947 the area where we lived was very laid back and carefree, but I was back there four years ago and I hardly recognized it. It was horrible. It is now annexed into Phoenix and Phoenix spreads for miles beyond and everybody is in such a hurry to get someplace.

You would probably like Northern Michigan...except for the cold winter weather. It's still quite rural and has many small towns with no and I mean no mega-urban areas. Detroit used to be but it has fallen... and now is virtually a ruin. Around Ann Arbor and the suburbs of Detroit, you still have heavy traffic and lots of people but other than that, the state is a marvelously open place.

For some reason that part of the country seems to have more places like that than this part. I guess maybe because people tend to migrate to the more mellow climate areas. I don't know. I lived in MO. in the Ozarks for about a year and it was so laid back. Nobody was ever in a hurry to go anyplace or do anything. I loved it.

This looks like something from my gramma's old photo albums...you know the ones--with the black, scratchy paper in them, and the little black photo "corners" holding the faded old pictures in place?
(Rats. I see ^equivoque already said that. Well, it doesn't make it any less true! )

That is exactly what I loved about it. I was actually shocked at how many of my negs from the holga have that feeling and I'm not sure if it's me or the camera...or just the northern light of Michigan summers.

It reminds me of my grandmas backyard at
their Palm Springs house.
Always lotsa light, warm fresh air...and love.

That is just what I thought...not the Palm Springs part ...but 'grandma's backyard'. I love the light.

I love what a familiar feel this photo has, at least to me. My grandma had chairs just like the one on the left and we'd sit out in that kind of weather and just enjoy it. You've captured it well
