Description
I liked the stillness of this shot. I was asked to do a few photos at my cousin's service. I felt weird but managed to be unobtrusive.Related content

That woman seems to be very, very... alone. Excellent shot.

I think that is why it works, don't you.

Interesting image. ...all too familiar. As my mother used to say: "give me flowers while I'm living, not after I'm dead."

I agree with you...though I think some after I'm dead is okay too. LOL At my mother's home after she died, every relative known to me even slightly showed up, along with friends and distant cousins I'd never met... I broke down after realizing how much she would have loved these visits when she was alive. They just hadn't happened. sad thing.

I like this. It makes me realize that someday when I am gone, someone will remember me and the good times I left in their stories of our youth. Good job again...why did it take so long to submit?

I wasn't sure I wanted to put up one of the service. She was a sweet lady and died young of cancer (only 60). I also know that sometimes her mother looks at my site. Her mother is 90 years old and simply marvelous. Anyway, thanks for the very very nice comment.

It may have felt strange to do this but the shot is very respectful.

Thank you. I tried to only do good ones and I didn't use flash at all.

Very well done, Myrna.
I like the way you are shooting from behind the chairs; it adds a sense of respectful distance.
You are right about the stillness.
And I like the way you have just one person quietly standing. Whether our own or someone else's, death is something we ultimately face alone, even when others are there to support us along the way.

Thanks for that lovely comment, Steve. I only shot about 6 images that evening. There were many many people there but I waited until most were gone and tried very hard not to be intrusive (no flash, of course). My cousin was only 60 and it was very hard for her sister and mother particularly.
