This reminds me of a special I saw on BBC in England. It was about a painter who did these dark paintings recording the effects of the industrial revolution back then.

Beautiful dark work. They look rather care free to me. If death awaits, they have no fear.

you must be a bit older than I thought your were...but then I think they were showing it on TV still in the late 70s ... and maybe even early 80s.

One person said the updrafts might be part of it too. I think so.. It is pretty ominous...

yeah. i just have no idea what it can accomplish and so i don't know when people have used it on their photos

myrnajacobs In reply to rosilynclaire [2007-03-17 01:15:12 +0000 UTC]
I didn't do anything with this one that I couldn't have done in the dark room. I've a lot of darkroom experience and quite educated in that sort of thing so I sometimes don't label thing manipulations, when I, in fact, did use some photoshop.

rosilynclaire In reply to myrnajacobs [2007-03-17 17:30:49 +0000 UTC]
well when it's just a slight addition then you don't have to label it manipulation! :>

Second the Hitchcock image. Offer a third theory: maybe the updraft caused by the warm exhaust 'gives them a lift.?'
