Wow, thank you for the DD!
Hello everyone! Welcome to my "How to Draw: Butterflies and Moths Tutorial"! I've spent endless hours, days, weeks, working on this for you.
This is a more complicated flash program than my last one on Jellyfishes. There is a total of 166 pages/frames in this tutorial
There are 6 drawing and coloring demonstrations in this tutorial, there was 12 originally, but I had to make serious cutbacks to meet the file size limit for DeviantArt. So, the other 6 drawings will be added to "How to Draw: Moths and Butterflies Part 2"!
Since my primary information source was Wikipedia, if any of the information I provided is incorrect, please let me know and I'll try to fix it.
I LOVE to see art people make using what they learned from my tutorials! If you do make art, please feel more than welcome to post a link to it.

[EDIT] Added on a pre-loader that seems to have helped with the problems I had at first. Changed the font size and type so that text won't go off the screen for Windows users. Made fixes to some small typos.

I'm sure there's exceptions to every rule since there are so many different species, but that picture looks like a moth. =O The way its wings are folded back suggests that to me.

yeah, it's strange. On the Dutch Wiki it sais that is is a type of nocturnal butterfly, but the English one points back to moths. It's weird

Perhaps that's something that will require more research through other sites instead of wiki. Since wiki is influenced by a lot of people and doesn't necessarily make it 100% accurate 100% of the time.

Maybe it's simply a language difference, just like Beaked whales are called whales in English, but dolphins in Dutch.

Not all moths have thick bodies and not all moths have furry antennae, but all butterflies do have clubbed antennae. But fantastic job

Ahh, I've loved butterflies for as long as I can remember, though I haven't really tried drawing them seriously, but this makes me want to.. O_O

I love your tutorials! unlike most tutorials i have seen yours actually explains things instead of a a"follow along." You include facts and actually teach things rather than just showing steps. Your great effort in this.. this its so helpful thank you for making this!
