How I draw char. pose by =pandabaka
Pencil final art Tutorial by =tiggerfactory
Really, these are great, and useful check em' out.
----------------------
I find myself repeating this a lot these days,
so here it is again ((with more whistles n' bells)):

Work Process Pt. 0: Inspiration

See a picture online, like it, love it, saved it to your files? : D
I know a bunch of us do that, and I consider it a really healthy thing for artists. Since, doesn't most of our inspiration come from stuff we like?
Been reading/ordering Computer Arts recently, and they refer it as an 'image library' So keep one to summon all these good reference pictures, inspiration sources.

The problem I find with most people's image libraries is that they can turn out to be very one-sided. D: You'd only see pretty much the same type of stuff in there. Guess it couldn't be that bad, but for diversity's sake it is. So don't just save things because you like it and it looks nice, save it because it's an interesting pose you could use later, because it has a nice color combo, an idea, style, lighting, etc. etc. Not just pictures too, writting, sculptures, etc. Also, organize this library so you could find things when you want it. :3

For a more Hands-On approach, carry a digital camera around with you, to your school ((unless they don't allow it)), your grandma's house, vacations ((DUH)), the bathroom, when your sleeping, just, EVERYWHERE. You never know when you'll see something interesting while walking around. Keeping your eyes open for these things also help~

Well, that's about it, hope this also helps somehow.

----------------------

[Actual Comment]

No preview because...well I want you to see that it's not just simple sketching,
I've accually included quite a lot in this one. XDDD ((Least I think so. D: ))

OH YEAH, THIS MEANS I'M EXPECTING SOME QUALITY ART AROUND HERE!!!
((Cuz I suck like that wahahahaahh))

Thanks again to all of you who let me use your giftarts/sketches.

Plus, really hope this isn't tiring to look at or hard/too much to read.
If it is, I apologize for that.

UN-one word comments mucho appreciated.

"make your sketches go strait like that with each other"?
You mean like, lay on top of each other? Or you mean just with drawing it?

Anyhow, I don't use the pen/path tool or the mouse to draw,
I use a tablet. I think that's what you're asking about. Hope it helps?

Uhhh....it's been a while I don't quite remember. @w@
And I don't think we use the same currency anyway,
but I'm sure google will provide you with some answers.

I dunno about other tablet companies out there,
but for art Wacom is the only way to go.
If you have a tight budget I think their cheapest tablet
should be the one called Bamboo. Unless you're sure you're going professional,
you really don't need anything beyond that one.

you don't know what the pen does ?_o
yes the layouts continually get more confusing for no good reason...THEY DON'T WANT TRADITIONAL SKETCHES ON IT >ะด<

EvilApple513 [2007-08-21 16:33:52 +0000 UTC]

That was VERY intresting to read. Have I told you you have great talent in writing? Well you do if you haven't yet. Um... am I supposed to crit on this???

I guess this will be the exception

I could never, actually, I could occasionally able to sketch and draw lines based on computer lines. I still love sketching and jotting down ideas on regular paper with my mechanical pencil. I dunno why, it goes faster and neater in my opinion on my art works.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Nakarie In reply to EvilApple513 [2007-08-22 08:25:55 +0000 UTC]

Naw, I think the best thing to say for a tut is if you learned anything or if it's useful~
Talent in writing? Thank you, I think that makes a first.

I think drawing on paper is also quicker and neater. :B
Since for one thing, you see the whole page, and it's more natural.
That's why I try to do more trad. stuff. Though that kinda blows over when it comes to coloring. XD;;

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

EvilApple513 In reply to Nakarie [2007-08-22 17:53:06 +0000 UTC]

O__o Don't you have those moments when you're working on trad. art, your left hand automatically presses the invisible Ctrl+Z when you mess something up??? It happens to be oh so rediculously constantly.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Nakarie In reply to EvilApple513 [2007-08-23 08:26:52 +0000 UTC]

Actually not really. XD; Cuz I don't really use Ctrl+Z much.
*didn't know what it even was a year ago*

I use the history thing too much though, but that's just clicking.

CharlottaBavholm [2007-05-20 07:32:18 +0000 UTC]

Great tutorial! I've not tried it out yet, but I will! It seems like a tidy, easy-to-follow tutorial. Though I work in photoshop elements, so I might not be able to use all the tools.
Good thing you refered to other tutorials too ^^ so that you don't have to include stuff other people already have explained.

The hardest thing for me is to get the lines of the final line art straight and black enough. I don't know if it's my technique or if I'm using the wrong settings XD How to you do it?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Nakarie In reply to CharlottaBavholm [2007-05-20 08:04:34 +0000 UTC]

Elements. D: I'm pretty sure elements has all the stuff PS has,
just....works differently. Like it might be in a different place or blah and blah. D:

Yesh, goodness know how long this would be if I had to explain everything. xD;;;

When you say final line art, you mean on paper or computer? o.o
If it's paper...well try reading the tut on that again, and then I guess maybe it's a...uh, skill/tecnique problem?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

CharlottaBavholm In reply to Nakarie [2007-05-20 12:37:33 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see ^^ Maybe I can find similar solutions if I find a problem with the tools.

I meant the computer-inked line art On paper it works just fine, with both pencil and ink. What I find strange is that I can't make the lines black enough, and still keep them thin D:

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Nakarie In reply to CharlottaBavholm [2007-05-21 12:21:01 +0000 UTC]

Ah, well for those...I have a piece for inking with the pen tool on the next tut.
((that I'm not even trying to work on yet. >____O;;; ))
Right, well I just...do it. Sorta, just, erease and draw erease and draw.
Eaiser to get it if you watch, xD;; it's usually like that. :B
But try fixing the brush settings, going over a line a few times.
All of these may help.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

CharlottaBavholm In reply to Nakarie [2007-06-02 21:24:48 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I think I'm starting to work out my own ways for it xDD Kinda experimenting... Drawing the same thing with different settings helps me telling the difference and picking what will look the best, I think.

It's always cool to know how an artist works on his/her pictures, you can always learn a lot, and I think you made it simple and understandable for everyone! I kinda do the same you do when sketching digitally, too XD
Will be waiting for the next ones!

Hmm... you know what strikes me is how I always create a smoldering mile-long crash streak in the ground just at my sketch phase sometimes. I like the way you do your sketches - this may help me clear the only nasty hurdle in my entire path to finish a picture.

mostlyyetlikely [2007-04-11 11:45:40 +0000 UTC]

Your explainations were sometimes unclear but your example images and the layout of your tutorial was easy to follow. Its pretty good, I'd reccommend this not for a beginner but an intermediate and on-their-way under-developed artist.

You talk about a media library and taking camera around! I do that like, all the time. In fact, I usually print off pictures and throw them in scrapbooks so I can referance to them later when Im having trouble wiht a particular pose, or how to draw something accurately. Most of it consists of real life photos as opposed to just art pieces, but the art pieces I use for referance to certain techniques and ideas! Im glad you brought that to attention.

I like how you walk the reader through photoshop without seeming drowning. Its clear and understandable with example. Good!

Well, you touch the basics on most things so thats good, great tutorial! It turned out really well. <3

Nakarie In reply to mostlyyetlikely [2007-04-11 12:03:28 +0000 UTC]

Ye problably not, since I did say I'm expecting an ok understanding of PS. :B
Well, really just slapped on things and organized it. XDD
Least I think this is what this mainly is. o.o

Thanks for commenting, though I mentioned it in your
journal because I used your giftart as an example. XD

Ah yeah, real life photos, forgot to mention that one. :B
But I myself isn't that much of a picture taker, trying to change that habit though. D:

Thanks~
