Description
Finally, the long awaited Part 2 of the Mercer claws tutorial! I hope it's easy to follow.Unfortunately, due to lack of space, there will have to be a 3rd (and I hope) final part to this tutorial. There's not much left after the Steps shown in Part 2, so hopefully the final part of the tutorial will be finished in less time than this one. >.<
Here's Part 1 in case some of you missed it: [link]
And here's Part 3: [link]

This is very helpfull, can i ask you what you used to make the red markings on the back of his jacket? i dont want to mess up my leather jacket by sewing it on.

I used red duct tape. Pretty much cut a stencil from paper, traced it on stripes of the tape and placed it on the jacket.

unfortunately... there'll have to be.
I mean, it's kinda self explanatory if you think about it... but just in case I can make a 3rd part just to get the visuals out there.

Yeah that's what I mean, it's pretty easy from now on out, you'd have to be somebody who can't visualize end results to mess up now. At any rate, thanks, I hope to see a blade on soon, hell, even a jacket! XD

lol no prob!
The blade pretty much follows similar procedures as the claws.... you just have to know you're not making claws. XD
The jacket I could probably explain; it's really not that difficult, plus it depends on how you obtain your jacket in the first place. I had to take extra steps just to get the jacket black...

What kind of jacket was it exactly?

Just a silver pleather jacket I found at Goodwill. The store did have black jackets but this silver one looked the most accurate compared to Mercer's, so I was willing to go the extra mile to spray paint it black.
I really recommend looking at places like Goodwill - if you look hard enough, you'll find really awesome stuff for real cheap!

Any kind of hand-me-down store will work. The only name I know is Goodwill.

Alright so pleather jacket, I guess after that I only have to worry about the design...

Nanaga In reply to 001-Raijin [2010-06-04 02:23:15 +0000 UTC]
pretty much. I drew the design on paper, cut it out like a stencil, and traced the design onto strips of red duct tape.

That's a bit complicating, I'll probably find a way to have it embroidered...

Nanaga In reply to 001-Raijin [2010-06-05 03:04:19 +0000 UTC]
lol ^^
Well, for the other clothes under the jacket (cuz for some reason wearing 3 layers of clothes is the thing nowadays..) pretty much just a long sleeve white collar shirt and a zip-up hoodie. I know there are a variety of images that depict Mercer with different colored hoodies: some being gray and others being dark brown. I went for the gray, but the choice is up to you.
Oh yeah, for more detail in the clothing, try to find a hoodie that ends around your waistline. According to Mercer's character model, the collar shirt is longer in length than the hoodie. Just a little tip to keep in mind, in case you wanted more detail.
