Description Assalaamu alaikum [peace be to you],

first part:

Flipping through the pages of history to learn about the treatment of women, one would not find much justice for women, who constitute practically one half the world population and who play a crucial role for man and the human society.

Womanhood Status Before Islam

Long ago, a woman’s status in the sight of all nations of the World was nothing more than the value of household goods. They were treated like animals. They were bought and sold. They had no choice in the matter of marriage; they had to silently accept the highest bidder. They never inherited, even from their close relatives. In fact, she herself would become an item of distribution just like any other commodity of inheritance in a descendant’s estate. Women were regarded merely as properties and possessions of men. in some societies, they were not even regarded as human. and when they were regarded as human they were seen as being created and born only to serve man.
In ancient societies in much of Europe, Asia and the Middle East, woman came to be considered inferior to man. The main reason for the ill treatment of women in ancient times was the prevalence of superstition. Superstition became elevated to the status of religion and, as such, had pervasively influenced human relations. Some religions taught that Eve, the first woman, caused Adam's ejection from the Garden of Eden so women were seen as a curse...

Reform of the Status of Womanhood

It was not until the last restoration of Islam by the last prophet of the God, Mohammed -peace be upon him-, in the early 7th century, that woman was recognized as a partner of man. Under Islam, the disgraceful place of woman inherited from ancient societies underwent the greatest most unparalleled reformation ever in the history of humankind. With the advent of Islam, woman was able to restore her dignity and legal rights. With the arrival of Islam, the values of motherhood were established and reinforced. In Islam, woman was removed from her crippling position to play her vital part in the society. It is in Islam that women joined the ranks of scholars and leaders in carrying out the torch of enlightenment to a world full of darkness.

The revolutionary change adopted by Islam in moving woman out from inferiority and humiliation into a new age of enlightenment and dignity was both important and complicated. Liberation and equality were about to be established in a society where women never thought they would be equal to men. In such a society, the God almighty gently touched the hearts of the believers with the following beautiful verse:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts (from fornication) and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so - for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.

translation of 33:35
This remarkable revelation lays out the golden rule of Islam: all people are equal, no differentiation in gender - men and women are equally tasked and equally rewarded. God said in the Holy Qur'an:
وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ الصَّالِحَاتِ مِن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُولَٰئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ نَقِيرًا
And whoever does righteous deeds, whether male or female, while being a believer - those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged, [even as much as] the speck on a date seed.

translation of 4:124
Many unfair civil and social laws regarding women were discounted in Islam. For example, women in many places in the world were not allowed to inherit real property - Islam changed this unfair tradition. Similarly, women were forced to marry or were sold in the market. Islam changed all of that. In marriage, women's consent is a condition of the validation of the marriage. women are allowed to seek divorce...

to be continued, in part 3:

I hope this was beneficial.

If I am right, it's from the God almighty. If I am wrong, it's from myself.

hijab is not liberation, its imposition, its oppression, its misandry, it is everything against women, and forcing anime girls to wear it is not "cute" its creepy and ugly, just like hijab

in islam everyday is woman's day with sura IV:  "Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], STRIKE them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.

You seem to be misinformed about Islam.
in Islam, rape is forbidden.
and a woman isn't raped for talking or not wearing hijab.
and in Islam a woman isn't jailed for being raped.

I advise you to learn correct facts about Islam before you go around ridiculing yourself by spreading obviously false facts that can be verified in 5 minutes google search.
here, you may start learning by reading the articles in the links of my many websites about Islam: nayzak.deviantart.com/journal/…

May the God almighty guide you and correct your thinking.

You're learning from an ignorant person who knows nothing about Islam.

why don't you do something better? take a few authentic biographies of the prophet -peace be upon him- and start reading. that way you can learn correct facts.

and please, don't come and throw whatever you learn in my page. it's not proving anything.

This is beautiful! The information you provided is very informative! Peace be upon you. I'm a non-Muslim, but I respect your religion, as well as all the other religions around the world. I don't like the terrorist groups in any religion and it saddens me that we judge people in different religions by the actions of the terrorist groups that we hear about.

I don't agree with your religion, but I am a supporter of free speech, and your art is beautiful. It shows how strong Muslim women are. I respect your religion, and the teachings of peace (I do not like the terrorist groups from Muslims, Christians, Jews or any other religion) and I respect how you treat each other and outsiders. May my God and your God (we share the same God with different names, WOW) bless you in your life. Amen, peace be with you.

Women in several other cultures were free and even held positions of prestige and power long before the 7th century, until Christianity arrived and ruined it all. Vikings, celts, the Japanese, not to mention most of their religious leaders were priestesses. Also women in Scandinavia and Gaul were recorded to have taken part in politics and even open warfare.

Our Bible NEVER desecrates against women (except they cannot be preachers or pastors) it was the moronic heads of the Churches, and the fact that people couldn't read the Bible themselves to point out the flaws, that gave women no rights.

I don't know; the Bible seems pretty messed up already, what with some verses saying love thy neighbour, don't murder, etc. Yet I also found verses that encourage murder and rape of nonbelievers and their wives and daughters. Funny isn't it?

Whoa, that verse is totally out of context! It is not at all a "you should do this", it is meant to sound horrible! It is talking about the Assyrian invasion. You need to read the whole text, not just take out a random bit and act like you know what it means...

TheWolfJarl In reply to Triela-sama [2013-04-11 15:46:14 +0000 UTC]

I don't even need to look at a Bible to know what Christianity means. Just open an unbiased history book and you can see that it's caused atrocities wherever it went.

Okay, well, I can see there is absolutely no point in talking to you, if you think you can understand the Bible without understanding the Bible XD.
God bless.

What is there to understand? IT's a bunch of metaphysical hoo-hah that keeps contradicting itself in every paragraph for a religion of supposed peace, considering how many people were massacred just for not believing. I don't need your god when I'm perfectly fine with the ones I am devoted to.

Well, about all the women in the world being households i'm not that agree with you (the rest of the info i'm agree, because not in all the cultures the women have like a equal condition as men). Maybe you generalized because is true that there is not possible way to count or register all the cultures for confirm this, here comes the inductive method, it's science nOn!

Bachofen explains that there is historical record that the people of Lycia [described mostly by Herodotus] existed the mother's right [not misunderstood this with matriarchy). The mother was the one who give the newborns a name, the genealogy was by mother's line and the status of the kids is directly from the mother. Also that only the daughters have the inheritance's right, the only duty of the daughters was take care of her old parents.

The rest is simply wonderful, i loved the description and the artwork.
