An independently-governed joint human-sobrai colony, Trident is a warm and humid mid-gravity world located in the Ochenus system, roughly 2400 lightyears from Earth and 3900 lightyears from Lox Eios, facilitating a stable tourism and transit economy as the system is an importat node for travel and trade between the territories of either species. A large terrestrial world with an average ocean cover of 68% and a surface dominated by floodplains, mangroves, island chains, and steep archipelagoes, the large tides created by the planet's moon and its K-type-M-type binary star create tidal zones even larger than those found on the sobrai homeworld: although no more than 68% of the planet is covered by ocean at any given time and the difference between low and high tide is only a couple meters, less than 15% of the land remain above sea at high tide, with the rest creating vast shallow bays and oceanic forest environments. At the same time, the heat of the parent stars and lack of major circulatory cells creates a sharp heat gradient across the surface, with the equatorial band being largely uninhabitable due to often reaching temperatures above 60°c, confining most colonization to subarctic and arctic latitudes or on high altitudes above the searing heat of the surface. The governing body of Trident is the Trident Associate Republic, a decentralized corporate republic with independent judiciary, executive appointed through corporate and union lobbying efforts, and a legislature composed of directly elected representatives of regional municipalities. The Trident Associate Republic is a full member of the Starfarer Ring, as well as subscribing to the charters and treaties of both the human Earth United Nations and sobrai Coalition of Free States.
