Description
FULL-VIEW OR DOWNLOADI've been meaning to do another Tutorial for forever, so here you are! How to submit your deviations to a #Group!
Members of my Groups #Hello-Sweetie and #1-Hr-WRITING-Contest sometimes ask me how to go about submitting to groups, so I decided that I would make a Tutorial so I wouldn't have to repeat myself.
Enjoy!
~Ness
I used the Groups #doctorwhoclub and #Hello-Sweetie for the visual references.
A--?? Is that--????? No, it can't be... it's... a...
Is it???
Wow, you guys are awesome, really!
To receive a DD - one of (if not, the most) highest honors on this site - for something I did just to help other members, is something I never expected or even dared to hope for.
You all are awesome, and I love you! I wouldn't have made the Tutorial, if I didn't.

You wouldn't get very many members then. Or, at the very least, you would be faced with the question again and again. By making the tutorial, I have since not been asked how to go through the process. Wanting to help people - whether they're veterans or newbies - is not a bad thing.
I'm sorry you seem to disapprove.

I'd rather have friends and people worth being friends with rather then numbers. Some of us just aren't obsessed with popularity and the like I suppose.
I never said anything against your tutorial, I was just surprised people wouldn't know how to submit to groups. It's kind of sad.

I didn't it mean it like that, sorry it came off that way.
But if you're a newbie and your joining groups left and right before you really look at how to do stuff (as many people do), you're inevitably going to get to a point where you're going to start asking questions. And I was tired of repeating myself, lol.

Lol, yes, it can be a little confusing. Even being the Admin of two Super Groups, I'm still sometimes surprised to find out certain things.

Simple, and helpful for newbies, and maybe the older mebers could find this useful. Great job!

You forgot to mention the bugs that sometimes occur when submitting like if the featured folder is closed, your deviation is automatically submitted to the next folder! Or if you submit using the contribute button on the groups home your deviation can be sent to featured/next folder regardless of what you click, same applies to submitting through your deviation

Oh, my. I really didn't know that happened, I've never encountered it, personally. Let's just pretend that this is the ideal version on a good day.

Ah, well, I'm only Admin of two groups, and only one of them receives active submissions on a daily basis.
...though, this might explain why some people try to submit to the Featured folder despite my telling them a thousand times that the Featured folder doesn't accept member submissions.
I've just been thinking that people were being ignorant, lol.

ive been thinking about making a tutorial on another D.A. related opic, do you have any tips for creating theese?

Nessarie In reply to dango21192 [2010-09-26 14:33:20 +0000 UTC]
Have patience, first off. Lol. You start it thinking "Oh, yeah, I'm going to get this done in a couple of hours," and it's just going to end up taking longer than that. This one took me about 3 days. Of course, that also depends on the subject matter too, but generally expect it to take at least a day, maybe two. Don't lose faith, and give up, no matter how tempting!
Second, I would suggest choosing a simple, clean background(s), which consist of only 3 colors/textures or less (as I have done on this one with the dark green border, light green background, and paper textured foreground). This means, if you throw in a textured background, as I have done, make sure that it's not too "cluttered" with excess images/colors. *WebTreatsETC has an awesome collection of seamless textures/backgrounds that work very well for a "clean" look. Most of these are for Photoshop, but they also include image packs in most packs that are easy to tile on programs such as MS Paint, if you don't have Photoshop.
Another thing I would say, is try to keep it all in order, and "dictate" it as you, yourself go through the process. There's nothing more confusing than following a Tutorial and finding yourself not faced with the same reactions as what is dictated. Something you left out because you considered it inconsequential, might end up confusing someone else down the line. So, yes, it's exhausting, and you might even consider it silly, but details are key. Even the little ones.
I hope my advice has helped and good luck on your Tutorial!

Yeah, I've had to describe the process to many people and each time I looked to see if someone had made a Tutorial about it yet, and they hadn't (I'm surprised they haven't, actually), so I took matters into my own hands.

Lol, YAY!! Yeah, I was getting tired of having to repeat myself too. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my members, and I'll whatever's in my power to help them out, but it was getting a bit ridiculous.
Now, I just have to finish that tutorial on how to use the HTML system...

Thanks! This is helpful, and would have been super useful to me a few weeks ago when I was totally green to this system. Even now that I have stumbled through it blind I still learned about being able to submit directly from the group and folder. Thanks again!
