Description
This is one of the few uses I think HDR can really be applied to - man made structures.I wish i'd of spent a little more time getting the composition correct on this one. It was a random shot whilst I was sheltering from rain under the pier and didn't know how well it was going to come out. I thought I had it framed to thirds but I was wrong. doh!
Anyway this is the end result. Combined from Three exposures.

I love how imposing you've made a structure I normally view as old and comforting look. For a random shot it's not bad at all, and it seems you know how you could have improved, so I won't point it out.

Really nice capture. I like the use of the flash. I agree to bad you didn't have more time to try different things. Compisitionally for me the image is sound.Good job.

cheers buddy. no flash was used however. I was toying with it but decided against it. This is an HDR shot merged from three seperate exposures.

I love this...and as you said, a great use of HDR.
I personally wouldn't worry about the composition. On an image as symmetrical as this, the composition here makes perfect sense. Each element of the structure is resolved, which is more important to me than the rule of thirds.

cheers buddy its more of the question of balance. I would of liked the pier dead centre at the end if you know what I mean,.

If you're really that worried (which I wouldn't be) then crop, straighten and perspective shift it in PS.

I did a bit already but I can't 'balance' it if you know what I mean. I wanted a parallel reflection on each side. hard to explain lol. I'm not that fussed Just kicking myself I didnt spend a bit more time on it. That happened twice that day!

It happens mate. I often take a couple of snap shots when I'm out and then realise their worth after I get home, wishing that I had used tripod and filters and got it right.
