Another assignment for Character Creation. This time it's an open week...all we were asked to do was to design a positive character in cool colors and a negative character in warm colors. I'm quite pleased with how these came out and I'm really excited to keep moving forward from this point. Anyways, both of these were born out of a lot of quick sketching and thinking about world , context, and story. I won't share anything else about how, but suffice it to say that these were both developed with the developing world of Alfonse & Domingo in mind! This was something I had a pretty clear vision of, but wanted to make sure in every respect it worked for the assignment while still fulfilling my vision for the character. I'm really excited about him...I know the pustules are kind of gross, but sometimes you've just gotta do it!

This is crazy, and it wouldn't be the same without the pustules, they give it so much more character. Very beautiful design and coloring job.

For all we know, the pustules could be tasty, valuable, or useful. I like it. Whatever you did this for, it came out great, and I like how you are seizing these concepts and taking them out of the box.

I know when I was looking at those pustules I was having mixed feelings, and these are the disturbing thoughts that played out in my noggin: "Oooooh, pretty pustules." and "Eeeeeeeew. pretty pustules." meh. Maybe they would look more like water sacs if you drew in a few blue veins or something. Love them water-pustules XD

Interesting design there. Very rarely do you see benign characters with pustules of water hehe, good work!
Also, the fountain...it reminds me an awful lot of the kappa.

It doesn't seem gross to me at all.
In fact, it makes me think of the Australian ants that make a sort of "honey" and store it in their abdomens for the rest of their colony. I always thought those guys looked pretty cool...

I actually really like the pustules. If I were to ever run into a Bubblewhale, I don't think I could resist poking its abscesses. I wonder if they'd be very squishy, or more on the firm side?

On the contrary, I think the pustules are wicked cool! I just adore the cool colors on this, and the pustules are... oddly hypnotic... I could stare at them for a good while...
