I'm so, so, SOOOOO sick of people shitting on the beautiful relationship that Cadence and Shining Armor have. She is a loving wonderful bride and people treat her like crap. Always making fun of her and making her out to be a harpy and tyrant. There's not enough artwork that shows what their relationship is really like so I decided to fix that at least a little.Related content

I agree with you. Even though I don't find it a massive bother, I think too many people make Cadence either evil or Armor titanically gay.
When in reality... this art piece is probably rather accurate to their relationship.

It's pure, and corruption hates nothing more than purity. "Nothing is sacred" is thier cry to justify their plight, as they challenge and corrupt more and more. Cadence and Shining represent marriage, love, as it should be, caring for one another before themselves, caring for each other as one would for themselves. Β My best friend just got married to a wonderful girl and everytime I see Army and Cadance I think of those two. There's something special about true love and we need to fight for it to keep it alive and pure.Β

What I see a lot more often is Shining Armor being turned into a jackass, cheating bastard so that the author can pair Cadance up with another character.

Absolutely. If my animation project ever bears fruit, I've got a whole segment planned just to elevate these two and to what ends they do for each other. They need more love instead of ALL the other pairings, many of them abominal, getting the spotlight.Β

Well, I do like portrayals of her and him where he's kind of an idiot and she's barely putting up with it, but even then it has to show that under all that they're a very happy couple.

The only beef I have with her is what happened last episode with Spike. She didn't feel the least bit responsible for the mishap that inevitably led to disaster and showed Spike no pity. Other than that, I don't really have an issue with her and MLP:FiM #011-12 - Neigh Anything was hilariously awesome.

The two of them need to be shown way more often together. For now most of the times we saw Shining Armor and Cadance, they were either working through a crisis (King Sombra) or were apart (Games Ponies play). A slice of life episode that shows an average day for the two of them would be nice.

I honestly don't see it happening, mainly because Cadance doesn't get much attention outside hanging with Twilight or official princess business. We see Shining even less than that. With Season 5 shaping up to be about the Mane Six dealing with friendship problems, I don't think a royal birth is going to be in the cards.

Giving stuff to do to Spike without much help wasn't her brighter idea in the last episode xd

She just told Spike try to help Twilight rest, which is not at all far from his usual duties, and then chastised him when he tried to do more than that because he was being an idiot. Giving her shit for that decision is ridiculous. She had other things to do (and obviously so did Luna and Celestia). Now, someone should have tried to channel the people looking for Twilight to one of the other princesses, instead of letting the all go to Twilight, but, because of the way Cadance is as a character, she likely looked at Twilight, saw she was exhausted, and rushed her out of there to go rest, reacting first on her maternal/caring nature instead of considering that Twilight's duties might not be finished. She never expected Spike to try to take over Twilight's duties, and when he did, she was skeptical about it, but TRUSTED HIM ENOUGH to let him try to make his own decisions, because that's what an adult SHOULD do with a kid that age (they may call Spike a 'baby' dragon, but he acts about 12). As a person who has worked with kids, it's important to let them make mistakes. Jumping in and stopping Spike from doing anymore of Twilight's duties is absolutely the wrong move, especially since at the time, she 1) Didn't know he'd made decisions for Twilight that could impact the entirety of Canterlot 2)Didn't see him doing anything harmful. She expressed concern that he was helping out for the wrong reasons, and left it at that, which was exactly the right decision. She didn't just say "well, you're up shit creek without a paddle, see ya!" when Spike's decisions went sour, she helped stop the situation and encouraged Spike (and this is important) without embarrassing him, to own up to his mistakes.
