Description This comic series is a side story from this comic series: [link]

[Part 1 - Rook ]

[Part 2 - Crabapple ]

[Part 3 - Luau ]

[Part 4 - Rose Petal ]

[Part 5 - Winter Willow ]

[Part 6 - The Garden ]

[Part 7 - The Fall ] <==== You are here

[Part 8 - Epilogue ]

SO MUCH TO SAY!

  • Willow did NOT use "the stare" on Crabapple. She does not and never will possess that particular ability. She used something else that will be more clear in the final comic

  • This is the second longest comic I've made, but this one required some crazy angles, posing, and artistic ability that really pushed me. I know it's not perfect, but dang... I'm proud of what I've been able to do (especially in the painted parts).

  • For those who've been asking: this comic took more than 60 hours, used 436 photoshop layers, 10 custom backgrounds, 154 different pony poses, and... whew. Lots of stuff.

  • If you read my original series and the "Luna's Reports" series, you know that the elements inhabited the ponies themselves after their use. You can see each pony showing signs of their new abilities immediately afterwards. These will be explained in greater detail at a later time.

  • For those who read the original four comics, didn't you ever wonder how Celestia got down from space with that broken wing? Now you know. (also note that this comic was planned from that time, I just couldn't fit this all in so I made it it's own side-story.

Thanks to Hasbro and for the wonderful world of ponies!

Thanks to for a lot of inspiration!

It's taken me a while to find the right words to describe how amazing this comic is, and I still think they don't even come close to doing it justice. I've been following you since the first comic started, and you just keep raising the bar. You've got an excellent story, fantastic characters and wonderful artwork, and they all combine into something that is truly a joy to read (even if I can't read it without tearing up).

Congratulations, Nimaru, for coming up with a comic that is truly epic. You deserve all the accolades you're getting.

I can't help but think that Crabapple has a ton of anger issues. He clenched his teeth so hard that his gums started to bleed O_O

There's a reason for that, but it's a bit of a secret... until the next comic anyway.

Oh. My. Gosh. I don't think calling this "epic" bold, underlined, italicized and in all caps could truly capture the incredibility of this comic. So emotional, so well-done, so heart-grabbing. Amazing. Simply amazing. I daresay this is one of the best comics of MLP I've ever seen, and there's not even the Mane 6 in it! Take a bow, Nimaru, take a bow.

I think it's a great idea

I was just going to have the reports, but I think having a little comic with Twilight finding them would be better. Especially to work in a story element I'd almost forgotten about.

In brightest day, in darkest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power; GREEN LANTERN'S LIGHT! :icongreenlanternplz ...At least, that's what that one part reminded me of. Anyways, AMAZING comic! Seriously, it's awesome.

Nimaru In reply to Mioio [2012-05-05 06:34:41 +0000 UTC]

That's true! I didn't think of that. I'd meant it to show the contrast of the deep darkness she was in to the brightness she went to.

pretty nice thought of how the EoH was first used on nightmare moon, though I stand on "celestia used it by herself" side than "celestia gathered someponies to seal nightmare moon".

Nimaru In reply to williamcll [2012-05-05 01:00:29 +0000 UTC]

Understand that there's been a fair bit of episodes since I started this story journey so less of my stuff may fit compared to when I first imagined it. Still, I believe the elements have more power when used together than when alone... I'm not even certain it's possible to use them alone.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

williamcll In reply to Nimaru [2012-05-07 01:02:14 +0000 UTC]

That is why Nightmare moon was never properly sealed in the first place.

Thank you! If it matters, during the last week or so, I spent every drive to work, drive home, and the 10 to 30 minutes or so before falling asleep going over the story again and again working out details. I think that helped a bit.

RE: Celestia returning with a broken wing. (I actually didn't notice it was a broken wing until just now. I am not a clever pony.) I assumed she was enough of a BA Action Hero a fall from mid-low orbit would be a minor inconvenience at worst.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nimaru In reply to Blynded [2012-05-05 01:02:03 +0000 UTC]

The broken wing happens and is a lot more obvious in the first story. You can actually see it bent backwards a few times when she busted out the frustration aurora.

NemesisPyro In reply to ??? [2012-05-04 22:47:12 +0000 UTC]

It's definatly a tear-jerker. Hell, its the first thing that's even come close to tugging at my heart in a way that wasn't in a bad way. But, despite knowing she had to be stopped, Nightmare Moon here keeps nagging me at the back of my mind. Like I feel sympathy for her. Being the ignored (Not always the younger one, I'm the older sibling and I'm ignored a lot) child isn't fun. Sometimes you have to do things you regret just to get people to care about you. Now that she's a threat, they care about returning her to normal instead of ignoring her. It might not be the right thing, but its better than just being ignored.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nimaru In reply to NemesisPyro [2012-05-05 01:03:27 +0000 UTC]

In the first comic series, you can see that I show that NMM is really only a corruption of Luna and Luna isn't to be blamed. Of course, I took it pretty far in saying Luna has NO fault which I'm going to have to backpedal on a bit, but I think we're thinking alike to a degree? You did read the original story right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NemesisPyro In reply to Nimaru [2012-05-05 01:44:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, to a certain degree, we are. I did read the original a long time ago, and it seems that my memory of it seems to slipped. I reread it and the corruption thing is good. Not really my thing to bring an outside force into this, but still a great idea. Mine was a bit more....her fault, but not to the extent of her willingly causing harm.

Wow... this whole thing gave me goosebumps, and like the commenter below me said, moved me completely. You totally put me in all the moments and did a great job connecting the two comic strips to keep one story.

Just one question:
"If you read my original series and the "Luna's Reports" series, you know that the elements inhabited the ponies themselves after their use. You can see each pony showing signs of their new abilities immediately afterwards."

Inhabited who, exactly? The Mane 6?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Nimaru In reply to SolarWindKaya [2012-05-04 21:41:44 +0000 UTC]

Yup! That's why the elements turned to stone balls. The magic had entered the users and will follow bloodlines until Twilight's time.
