SO MUCH TO SAY!
- Willow did NOT use "the stare" on Crabapple. She does not and never will possess that particular ability. She used something else that will be more clear in the final comic
- This is the second longest comic I've made, but this one required some crazy angles, posing, and artistic ability that really pushed me. I know it's not perfect, but dang... I'm proud of what I've been able to do (especially in the painted parts).
- For those who've been asking: this comic took more than 60 hours, used 436 photoshop layers, 10 custom backgrounds, 154 different pony poses, and... whew. Lots of stuff.
- If you read my original series and the "Luna's Reports" series, you know that the elements inhabited the ponies themselves after their use. You can see each pony showing signs of their new abilities immediately afterwards. These will be explained in greater detail at a later time.
- For those who read the original four comics, didn't you ever wonder how Celestia got down from space with that broken wing? Now you know.
(also note that this comic was planned from that time, I just couldn't fit this all in so I made it it's own side-story.

I think that moment when Willow raises her forelegs and looks up at that huge spiral of pegasi is one of the most moving moments in the whole thing. Then I reread it while playing this particular music video from 3:19 to around 4:58 ( [link] ) and suddenly there was a huge lump in my throat and a distinct lack of dry eyes.
You nailed it with this one, good sir. You really nailed it.

I got chills when all the pegasus ponies flew up to catch Celestia. I've never gotten chills from a comic before.

I refuse to admit how many times I teared up when writing it. And it wasn't just once, it was each time I read it.
Of course, I have to do that. I write by feeling so if the feeling isn't right, the writing won't be either.

This is a magnificent piece of work.
Ever since you started this side-series, I've been greatly anticipating the day when you would finally show the conflict between the element-bearers and Nightmare Moon. And you, my friend, have not disappointed in the slightest.
The entire comic was draped in the kind of tragedy usually reserved only for the most serious of Shakespeare plays. The banishment of Luna, as usualy, tug at my hearstrings in a way few have ever pulled off.
And as for the element-bearers themselves, I don't think I'm wrong in saying that you may have created the finest cast of MLP OC's the fandom has ever produced. From Crabapple's passionate speech, to Rook unyeilding dedication to the Princess' safety, to Willow's endurance of all that emotion. There is not a single weak link in the bunch.
I would say that "you've out-done yourself", but there's still one page left to go.
And I await it with as much anticipation as I have with this one.
Keep up the good work.

There is one more page to go, but it will mostly be "what happened in the years following" sort of thing. Far less drama to be sure, but there will be some good stuff in there I wager

Actually, I'm serious. I've always assumed that Equestria had a civil leader of some sort that reported directly to the Princess(es); Prime Minister is as good a title as any. It may echo the elected Chancellors the Earth ponies had before the tribes unified.

I think that whatever Winter Willow used was not the stare idd... It's a power that every female of every race posseses as a defence against the male gender. I know too many women that can shut up even the strongest personalities with a single glare for this not to be true... It's like, I dunno, Girrrl Powerrr!?
On a serious note, this was another great comic. Especially the 'to wing/ spiral of love', that was nice

You're way closer than you think on that stare, but when I reveal it, it will all make perfect sense.
The hardest thing was figuring out how to do the spiral with looking up from below and the other shots with them looking down etc. There was a lot of subtle complexities here, but mostly things that were time consuming.

First off, great comic. Totally worth the wait.
Second, is that pinkie pie (per-cuteie mark) in the last panel listening to the speech? Or was it just a color pallete coincident?
Third, are you going to have a story type of thing like Luna's report? I'd love to see Twi finding some obscure history book then going all genealogist to find out the original elements.

This is just simply amazing! I've been reading this comic since you first started, and up until now I don't want this to end! I mean your storytelling is simply superb. I was really excited when you showed the preview for this comic strip a few days ago featuring Celestia and Luna's parents. That right there just made me even more excited. So after your done with the events in this comic, do you plan on continuing during the 1000 year years telling the events of the others. I personally think it would be a nice side series for sure. To be honest I seriously believe this is whats going to happen when season 3 comes out this fall. I just know they're going to tell the events of the past. Why else would they bring Discord back? My bets are he has something to do with Luna going over the edge. Woah I'm getting way off topic there. Before I go I wanted to say that this song fit perfectly when Celestia was falling from the sky.
