Description
Glass vials and life debris.i did this a while ago, but i just put it up again. i carried one vial a day for 102 days of my life and put some of the debris i encounterd in it, and cataloged it. if anybody is interested (but why would you be), i can list what is in each day's vial.
seems kinda oc, but that's under control now....kinda.
update!!
i found the list. i noticed that some of the vials are out of sequence in the photo (thanks to a couple idiot friends of my wife who thought it would be funny to rearrange some...i didn't have the list then to correct it). i altered the list to fit the photo. when i have the piece up again, i will put them in the proper order.

Ok so everyone seems to be asking about the glass bottles, but I would like to know did you make the shelf or did you happen to find a shelf that is just the right size?

well, i made the shelf...if you consider cutting aluminum angle stock to the right length and drilling holes to mount it making it.

I love this. There's a sense of...hmm, how to put it, like the essence of each day in every vial, small details (kind of Sherlock Holmes evidence type)
It's one of those ideas where you think, "Hey! It's so simple yet so new and creative!"

for number 46 it wouldn't be d'soleil because in french d' is only for words that begin with a vowel. So it'd either be de or du. I don't remember.

thank you french grammar patrol. unfortunately i only took russian and japanese back in high school twenty plus years ago, so my foreign language abilities are somewhat lacking. should i ever need to spell the name of a 1970's sun tan lotion ever again, i will be prepared. how can i ever thank you enough.

i love obsessive art...reminds of installations by ann hamilton, she will often obsessively collect and then categorize/organize her collections in parts of her installation....like different colors of pennies that thickly coat a floor, or a table covered in teeth from all sorts of creatures
great that you included the list....i always like it when artists make work that involves the use of a ton of different materials and elements, and that he/she makes sure we know what they are!

Wow, have you ever read ' If Nobody speak of remarkable things' by Jon Mcgregor because there is a character in there who does a similar thing with coffee jars, which he keeps all in little rows under the floor boards? It's actually not a very interesting book, but I loved the concept.

no, i haven't read that. i think if my wife found me sticking these under the floor boards i would end up in a little white coat permanently hugging myself...if you get my meaning.
it did help feed my ocd, though.

This is amazing! How big are the bottles? And where did you get them? I'm going to make a real effort to do this. I think I want to set a goal of 103 days. Not to out do you, but because i like odd numbers. Hahaha. It seems like fun and rather therapuetic. And I am such a packrat that its a very fitting project for me.
