Description
Many times have people asked how I do my traditional colored pencil works. And now I have finally finished my second tutorial. This one tells not only using of normal colored pencils but also the watercolor pencils, because if I make a drawing with colored pencils I allways use also the watercolor pencils. I almost never use water with the watercolor pencils, I just love the stronger and more covering feeling of them. This tutorial tells actually only about skin coloring, but the tecnique is same when I color something else.
If you are interested about my traditional art tecniques, you should also see my watercolor tutorial.

Thanks for the tutorial!
Just wanted to ask because I fail at linearting, how do I erase a mistake?
I mean, the ink not the pencil LOL

Well, if you do a mistake with ink, you cannot really fix it. That's the bad thing about traditional media, but that can also make your art interesting, because you aren't able to fix every single mistake like with computer generated images.

You mean a good pencil brand? I like Derwent and Faber Castell, but you can ask from your local art store what are the good quality brands available in your area. It's better to start right away with good quality, because the cheap colored pencils will only slow you down and you wont get as good results.

I think you could ask from your local art/ book store if they have a thick drawing paper.

That's great to hear! Thank you! I used only the colored pencils, not markers on this picture. But I have used copics and colored pencils together earlier

thats really impressive is it the brand of colored pencils or just how you use them?? did you blend any together using a white pencile or just the different shades of the color?? im really driven to learn how to color better .///. sorry if im jumping all over you with questions
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
nokecha In reply to FallenxxDream [2010-11-28 12:16:07 +0000 UTC]
Yes that's the brand I use. I usually color first with darker color and then on top of it with a lighter tone (white or some other light color). So you can use also light colors when you blend, not only white. I hope I explained this clear enough But feel free to ask more if you stil want to know something!

Please, help me. How is the Photoshop setting when you scan it so it still look fine??
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
nokecha In reply to Azulla-00 [2010-09-07 18:52:24 +0000 UTC]
I think every scanner has it's own settings window, so I can't say for sure. Just try to take all the extra adjustments away while scanning (don't let the scanner add more contrast, sharpness, etc): You should always retouch the picture with Photoshop after scanning (levels, color balance, hue/saturation). Don't use scanner for the adjustments. If your picture is very lightly colored, it may be hard to get it scanned right. But you can search for tutorials to help you use the Photoshop adjustments.

Do you mind me asking, but what do you mean by white ink? Can I ask for the brand your using (white ink)? Your tutorial BTW is the best as far as I've seen and it helped me a lot since I'm new to using coloring pencils. I think this tutorial is really awesome ^^ Thank You!

Hi! Now I got home and I have check the ink brand. It's Pelikan Drawing ink, color is 18 white. Here is a picture of the ink [link] (that's the black one, but you can buy it also in white).

I tried to search the brand in Google, but I can't remember it and I won't be home for while so I cannot tell you the brand right now. But the white ink is same as ordinary black ink (like this [link] ) but it's just white. I hoe this helped
