Description Many times have people asked how I do my traditional colored pencil works. And now I have finally finished my second tutorial. This one tells not only using of normal colored pencils but also the watercolor pencils, because if I make a drawing with colored pencils I allways use also the watercolor pencils. I almost never use water with the watercolor pencils, I just love the stronger and more covering feeling of them.

This tutorial tells actually only about skin coloring, but the tecnique is same when I color something else.

If you are interested about my traditional art tecniques, you should also see my watercolor tutorial.

I might do comissions, but right now I'm in exchange in Japan and I don't have my colored pencils with me. I only have not-so-good colored pencils I bought here and I only have like 20 colors. But I have been drawing a picture with them and I think I'll upload it in DA once I finish it. Then we'll see if I can color without super quality media!

I love this tutorial, it's extremely helpful and well done. The drawing is lovely as well. I'm just curious, but what's your stance on a blending pencil? I've heard several artists say they think it's unnecessary. Anyway thank you very much for the tutorial

nokecha In reply to Mizumi-chan4 [2010-06-09 12:08:37 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for your comment! I don't use blending pencil. In fact I have never even heard about it I only know the colorless blender in copic markers, but I think it's not very useful. So I guess you can live without a blending pencil

love this! could u give me a list of type of brands of colored pencils u use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nokecha In reply to sweetascandi [2010-04-25 02:58:29 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! In the beginning of the tutorial I tell what brands I use, the pictures are also taken by me, so you can really see the colored pencil brands and also the papers I'm using. I don't use any other brands, but I think this tutorial should work with other brands too. It's quite important, that the colored pencils you use are soft, like watercolor pencils. That way you can get wery thick and smooth coloring. Good luck with coloring! Have fun
