Fine story so far. Replace "got" with "have" especially in the last panel. In the 5th panel, "WE'VE got" is okay.

is there a specific reason why it have to be "got" and "'ve got"?

No reason in particular, except its BETTER English that's more suitable for the characters you are drawing. "We got" is too slang for an instructor at Star Fleet Academy. "We HAVE got," or "We'VE got" is more appropriate.
The story is very enjoyable. I only pick on the English problems because you say this will be an audition comic.
