Description
Promotional illustrations for Glow . Check it out! I wanted to post these months ago when the Kickstarter was launched, but a lot of stuff kept me off DAGlow is a coming of age journey set in a world where magic catalyzed both industrial revolution and nuclear holocaust.

Art from Deeeeev!
These are really sweet! I've missed your works. I've not seen you on Tumblr and I've let my deviations here stockpile for like a year now. These guys look pretty cool and I like the effects on the first one. Good to see your stuff again.

Hey! How have you been?
Thank you so much! You know I'm bad at keeping up with social media, and tumblr was especially hard to follow for me - too hectic, and no matter who I follow, the content I get is all over the place. Plus I always found the UI confusing, so I'm dropping it for now. Better not bite off more than I can chew Do you use it a lot?

Hi! I've been well.
I have a nice stable job now that pays well and offers me a fair bunch of Smash Bros. opponents to play with during work breaks, and I've been more productive recently, art-wise. On that note, I do use Tumblr a lot. I don't dwell in it, per say--I just sift through it to look at some works I follow, mostly from other art friends. But I have been more active in posting there lately as well. It actually feels much less demanding than dA, since there isn't really an open comment system or a fave/collection system, so I feel more comfortable just scrolling through and browsing my feed. Then I'm done with it unless I'm posting something. I really only use it maybe a few times a day in short bursts.
Anywho. How have you been?

Sounds great! Glad to hear you're satisfied with your job
You make it sound so stress free... I guess I'll give tumblr another chance in the future. I'll just have to learn how to get used to new things little by little instead of tackling a bunch of challenges all at once.
I'm doing fine - mostly working as a freelance illustrator and concept artist. I've had the chance to try a studio job for a couple months and it was a great experience, so once I'm done with my current client I'll be hunting for a longer studio job in the exact field I'd like to get into - video games.
That about sums it up! I'm studying a lot and practicing like never before, but the biggest challenge is always handling online galleries and be more confident about the stuff I produce.

I think Tumblr is as stressful as you make it. Depends on how many people you follow and what you follow them for. If you follow a lot of people that post often, reblog often, and/or spam stuff, it gives you a lot to keep up with and you might miss things if you don't scroll through all of it. I just follow a few people, and only their art profiles, so I don't end up with a lot of things to sift through. And since there's no comment system aside from replying or reblogging, I don't feel obligated to comment on the posts. I just Like them if I think they're cool.
That sounds great! It's cool to see you're doing something like that and getting experience. You're good at illustrating stuff. And when you get into the games field, I'd love to play whatever you work on.
And that's good to hear. One can never have too much study and practice (except, like, never taking breaks, so I guess one can?). And I think you can be proud of the stuff you do produce. But I think one thing that helps is to have online galleries for different purposes! For example, Tumblr is my dump gallery. I put stuff I'm working on there, or stuff that's finished but not polished to the point where I'd post it here. Sketchbook stuff, usually. It doesn't really get a lot of attention anyway, but it gives me a place to put stuff to motivate me to keep drawing. Deviantart is where I put the refined stuff. That's really all I have, but I'm not a full-time artist and also have a desk job that keeps me busy, so I don't see the point in having a ton of galleries to maintain. Start small with one or two, and if that's all you can handle, then leave it at that. That's my take, anyway.

I really like how you did these characters. Simple as it may be, the shapes-behind-characters
aesthetic blows my mind. I hope to achieve this kind of three-dimensionality with the 2D style
I use as a side style actually. Keep it up!
You didn't include the Tanvir in here, but I love it. HAHAH cheers!

Thank you!
I really love cel shading - I'm so happy you think it looks three-dimensional! It's very time-consuming because it requires polished lineart and precise shadows, but I always love the part when I get to add the gradients. You should try it - bold gradients and saturated shadows set on multiply are super fun!
Ahah, the Tanvir will come

Tanviiiiiiiir
I actually do make use of the multiply layer to shade but never got
around wrapping the shadows around forms better. Also never really
used a gradient to help. I'll be doing that now.
