It was a long process and I'm not entirely satisfied with a lot of things in the final result, but I learnt a lot. I worked with a great comic writer and it was a great experience overall

Oh dang! The colours and atmosphere in this is amazing! The glinting cat eyes in the back are so ominous, and your attention to detail is phenomenal!

Thank you so much! I'm trying to find a good compromise between a rough & painterly style and attention to detail :3

Universal love! This is the type of solid, painterly art that I really like! The lighting is also really good. Inspiring!

Thank you so much! I'm trying to achieve a painterly but not too fleeting look - if that makes sense

No problem! Well, I'm not sure ahat you mean about "fleeting", but I might just take it as something viewers or the artist would only like for a short period of time, so I can agree.

With "fleeting" I mean "evanescent", as in... you know how some painterly styles don't feel very solid? Like when in the flurry of brushstrokes the volumes are lost. I agree about your interpretation of "fleeting", though! That sure is something most artists wish for

Oh, I understand. Very loose, I think. I'm alright with that too,
but of course there has to be a weight to it and I always prefer when
it's not too rendered like this one, and it still looks great enough
to be called polished!

I really like this interpretation of a human/animal hybrid. It's unnerving and horrific, but appealing because of this!

Thanks! It is a very creepy character - the hairlessness helps a ton, and I even put more muscle than needed on him. He's supposed to look very, very sickly. Glad you like it

Personally I love this. Especially how you've managed your contrasts on the lighting and and hues. The only thing that bugs me really is the posture of the hand, but the rest of it is fantastic. I'm surprised you don't like this one as much?Ā

Thank you!
I'm not surprised because my feelings for what I produce always range between "eh" and "gimmearockIneedtohide" xD I got super used to seeing this thing though, so while I feel generally unsatisfied with a bunch of things, I stopped noticing some specific things like the hands - which one are you referring to? I really need a skilled (and fresh!) eye to give criticism, so thank you very much! It's super appreciated

Ahh, yeah after you work on something for a while you're probably like " ehhhhhh.. EHHHH I COULD DO BETTER! " xD I know that feeling. I get that way more with older work when I look back and am like " ... Damn there are some problems with this. " xDĀ
Still I think this is awesome if you ask me! The thing that i'm noticing is the hand that's holding the rat. It's nothing big but I think I would imagine his hand slumping down more from the pressure of the animal, or in a more gentle posture it would be cradling it in a more slopped fashion. It just seems like he's holding it a bit awkwardly, as if he's going to make him fall off. xD
