Description Sorry it's taking so long to get stuff up, but life is hectic with art classes that I can't use alchemy for as an art median? :/

This array takes existing light shining on this array and redirects it as a beam. Similar to a laser, but a really, REALLY hot one! Its like if a magnifying lens and a laser had a love child.

This one was a request, but I don't remember who requested it. Sorry to whoever it was, I have it written down, just not with me.

I was trying to find a way of designing a array that would break down misc. materials and create high carbon content steel structures. I looked over what you've showed and so far i'm lost as to where to place half terras to break materials down to basic elements and fission circles to make basic elements and fusion circles to make iron and carbon in proper amounts. :/

Can you make an array that creates crystals please?

I could... I think I have one, though.Ā
notshurly.deviantart.com/art/E…
It's simple, but it has a strong control over compounded chemicals and molecular structures, so it would be optimal for the creation of crystals.

Has anyone had the idea to scratch this into a laser pointer or a flash light? As the light passes through the lens, and the transmutation array, the light intensifies and you have a an easily controlled and highly focused laser weapon?

Notshurly In reply to MechPenProdigy [2014-01-05 08:02:39 +0000 UTC]

Of course it could be! But I think it would be more fun to use well focused gamma rays. Light will burn the flesh. Rays will boil the brain.
And good thinking! I like that idea.

Could you use say Deadric font or perhaps Tengwar as well

Yes you could. I would if I had the font for my computer. I just haven't looked into getting it. It's been so long.....

so uhm... do the instructions have to be in Greek? or is that purely Aesthetic?

Aesthetics. If I had a better and less recognizable font at my disposal, I would use it.

One question, can this array also work with another element if there's enough of it around if there's enough modification to it? For example, with air and water?

Notshurly In reply to Alphakoka [2011-10-19 02:40:19 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes. You gotta put some new symbols in there, but it would work

Can you make the air version of it?

Notshurly In reply to Alphakoka [2011-10-21 19:11:16 +0000 UTC]

I could, but I don't plan to. Though it would make a nifty tutorial for explaining multiple uses for one basic array, all based on symbols

Very nice looking circle. I've been looking at some of your work for a while now and although this is already mentioned in your profile are the circles you make legit? By legit I mean did you actually read books on alchemy and study it and such. Im no expert at this stuff but I've seen many circles which are cool and all but don't have that actual alchemy basis. Yours on the other hand are both cool and look well legit. If only they could actually work. Anyway kudos and keep up the hard work!!!

Yes, they are "Legit". I have spent much time studying them and take careful time creating them.

what does the writting say

ImperiumAngel In reply to darksider357 [2011-06-22 21:42:53 +0000 UTC]

Starting from the very top and going clockwise it says; "In the area that is black, absorb existing sunlight. Acquire the energy and redistribute the energy through the arrow. The energy is then to be released upon the will of the alchemist."

Notshurly In reply to darksider357 [2011-01-29 04:19:05 +0000 UTC]

I don't remember specifically, but I think it was something along the lines off "Gather all light, send it to the center of the array, yatta yatta yatta"

Ooh, looks like that could hurt. Now for a question: what would happen if you set up this array on a rotatable platform that one could control manually? Or would that even be possible? Anyway, a job well done. I like it!

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Notshurly In reply to hatpin-understudy [2011-01-01 19:11:06 +0000 UTC]

If you were to rotate the active array, the beam would move with the array.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

hatpin-understudy In reply to Notshurly [2011-01-02 17:10:55 +0000 UTC]

Nice! So basically...

"IMMA FIRIN' MAH LAZAH! BLAAAARRRRGGHHH IN 360 DEGREES!!!"

*ducks the incoming beam* So a rotating lightbeam/laser combo would be a recipe for disaster if you actually used it, right?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

I see. Just thought that would be kind of an interesting concept.

jackalmoth [2011-01-01 05:33:23 +0000 UTC]

So, is the light beam directed outward at the top of the array at an angle, or is it emitted sraight out along the surface upon which the array is drawn, or...?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Notshurly In reply to jackalmoth [2011-01-01 05:36:55 +0000 UTC]

Straight line to which the array is drawn.

Visible light photons --> infrared heat-carrying photons?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Notshurly In reply to JxL60 [2011-01-01 03:23:12 +0000 UTC]

Radiation from the sun. So light and heat.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Azerik92 In reply to Notshurly [2011-01-02 20:30:17 +0000 UTC]

I also noticed that you say it takes the light shining on the Array...which means the strength of the beam is relative to how much light is directly on the/pointed at the Array. So say if you were in a really dark room, and there was just a single spotlight like circle of light nowhere near the Array, because of some random hole in the ceiling, would you still be able to use it? And what about artificial light? Can the Array generate its own heat, and use artificial light as a medium?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Notshurly In reply to Azerik92 [2011-01-03 06:36:22 +0000 UTC]

Yes, the light is relative. Like I said, it acts like a magnifying glass. However, in a room of artificial lighting, it would be able to focus it, as though it were natural light. And it can use any existing, but if its dim light, it will be a very weak beam. The heat is just infrared radiation, so as long as it is present on the array, it will amplify.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Azerik92 In reply to Notshurly [2011-01-03 18:46:02 +0000 UTC]

So it is vastly different from mine, which gathers all light within range, as well as any physical heat. Mine would leave you in a very cold state if you used it in a sealed off area. Mine would also gather any excess energy and convert it to heat I believe...

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Notshurly In reply to Azerik92 [2011-01-03 19:00:50 +0000 UTC]

Ah. So yes, ours are rather different. Though I say, if you were to reverse yours and pull heat away as beam, you could have the worlds first ANTI LASER!!! or something similar....

Good, cuz I'm already working on it

I found out that the reference library downtown here has some good books on Alchemy and Symbology, so I've been going there every chance I get to look at stuff. Also found a great book on different symbols in my school's library. It caught my eye, because the cover had some symbols I recognized from Iridius.
