Description
For NationStates; Modeled in DoGa, Too Many Original Parts...----
While not an original OSA design, the Blinded has found its way into limited service with the Outer System's Alliance thanks to its designer - Governor Taidasha of the planet Sakaldale, ex-Warlord, and host of the OSA-sponsored 'Mech Tournament on that same planet. As a former Engineer with the Republic Defense Force, Taidasha took an interest in BattleMech design and construction after witnessing them in action during the annual tournament. Following some strenuous negotiation with her husband - who did not want her to participate at all - she secured an agreement that she would design and build her own 'Mech and then offer it up as the prize for a bout to be held between her and the winner of the tournament.
She lost.
Thus the first Blinded entered OSA service and with the genuine article on hand, OSA designers were able to do a tear-down and reconstruction. Designed for the one-on-one environment of the tournament, the Blinded fits a reasonably specific mission profile quite well, and is an excellent 'Mech for defensive battles in well-known terrain. The preferred fighting style is obvious by its pose; using the shield on the left arm for cover, it concentrates precision fire from the gauss rifle/particle projector combination on the right arm on a single opponent, targeting weaker locations such as the legs with the goal of immobilizing the opponent and destroying it at range. Observing that most tournament battles tended to be resolved at mid-range, the Warlord also added a pair of medium pulse-type lasers on the left shoulder and a large box launcher (4x SRM 4) on the right shoulder.
Notable is the Blinded's aesthetic; that of the cowled warrior. This is in keeping with Sakaldale's human population, which is of noted Nordic descent. Unusual for a 'Mech, the head and thus cockpit can rotate inside the cowl, tracking to the movement of the right arm weapon.
