Description
For NationStates; Modeled in DoGa and using a lot of custom parts. Laser design shamelessly copied from Shimmering Sword's various 'Mechs. Shamelessly. And now for an unpopular opinion from an asshole...----
It is time to face the truth.
The truth is... 'Mechs are gunships. Walking, fighting, climbing, occasionally talking, but ultimately... Gunships. Varied weapons? Check. High mobility? Check. Limited armor effectiveness due to funky geometry? Check. Is that a bad thing? No! Gunships are awesome and do very well at doing gunship things as long as the command staff remember they're gunships and use them for gunship objectives. What are gunship objectives? Fire support missions - that is, putting the right ordinance on the right target at the right time thus allowing specialist units to be more specialized while still having access to a wide variety of 'make things dead.'
Yes, yes. I know the rules suggest otherwise, but it isn't exactly called 'Combined Arms, a Game of Multi-Discipline Combat', now is it? Big robot, right there on the box.

Bearing in mind 'gunship', the OSA's WRLK-1A 'Warlock' was specifically designed as a fire support element to pair with two new Special Operations groups trained for the Martian Theater. These infantry groups were trained for the kinds of high-value, high-specialization fights that could then justify their own dedicated 'Gunship... Err... 'Mech. These would largely be close-in, high-intensity operations such as hostage rescue, seek-and-destroy, and others involving lots of hyphens. To be useful to these operations, the 'Mech would have to be fast, flexible, and easy to deploy and the WRLK-1A satisfies all of those requirements.
It is not a tank.
Three medium variable pulse-style lasers (1 H, 2 CT) are backed up by a six-cell short-range missile pod (RT), a five-cell long range missile pod (LT), a laser-type anti-missile system (LT), two multi-purpose grenade launchers (LT, RT), two small pulse-type lasers (LA, RA) and two actual flamethrowers (LA, RA) - not the standard super-heated air type but actual sticks-and-burns type flamethrowers. Anti-personnel pods are mounted on the lower legs (LL, RL) and there are two nice big fists (with TSM) for picking up battle armor and punting for two. Also useful for tearing holes in walls, boosting infantry to upper-story windows, that kind of thing.
A lot of guns have been traded for a lot of armor however, and this is not a 'Mech designed to slug it out. By OSA reckoning it is at the high end of Medium and since I'm not going to stat it out... Well, go ahead if you want to. Just remember; gunship - not tank. Oh yeah, and it has jump jets. Can't forget about the jump jets.
