Description For NationStates; Modeled in DoGa with custom parts made in MetaSequoia and textures by Doc Evilonavich and elsewhere.

----

The Retrograde-Class Fast Destroyer is one of a new category of vessels termed 'Rapid Recovery' by Fleet Command. These are starships and other military equipment that will be designed but not necessarily fielded; Instead the construction details will be held in reserve against the possibility that the Republic will at some point find itself in need of rapid replacement for a large majority of the Fleet. Currently the VLEMA arrays give the Republic and by extension the Defense Force an unparalleled level of material replenishment but there is always the possibility that either the VLEMAs will be disabled or destroyed or that the Republic will find itself facing a foe with similar capabilities. Reasonably Fleet Command would rather replace like-for-like but in such an event it might be necessary to cut certain corners and the Rapid Recovery Vessels are just those corners.

In the case of the Retrograde-Class, these corners are numerous. While it has the same throw-weight as the frontline Equinox-Class Heavy Cruiser, it lacks essentially all secondary systems with many primary systems - such as life support - stripped back to marginal levels. There is no Eien Replication Suite, there is no mess hall. If the crew comfort is not included in a standard escape pod it is not included. The purpose of the Retrograde is simply destruction for as long as it lasts.

Looks are not deceiving - it is an Akira but matching the 'Sunset' visual aesthetic. Even a lot of the backstory reasoning matches that of Akira though the circumstances are different.
