Description
The Prominence-Class was the first ship of the line to feature a direct link to the TRIPWIRE early-warning array. Designed around the interception/interdiction mission, it was mostly envisioned as something of an over-gunned customs cruiser that could handle lone attempts to breach Republic space without involving an entire battle group. By limiting the engagement size to a single vessel, it was hoped that these increasingly-unlikely interceptions would be seen as pure chance. That could only last so long, however, before the jig was up and the existence of some kind of system able to monitor the entirety of Republic space began to be circulated in Intelligence circles though the 'how' of TRIPWIRE's operation is still secure. By that time, TRIPWIRE integration was routine on all new construction and the Prominence-Class thus limited to only a few registry numbers.
