Upolstrey foam. You can buy it and Joanne fabrics. Or Foam Warehouses. It is expensive so I would go in with a coupon. I like 1 - 2 inch density so I can trim more than glue small pieces.

Thanks! This is wonderful, I'm curious about how the fur is stuck on/cut and how the jaw attached now ;D
Great stuff, I'm eager to make a fursuit but I imagine it would be expensive!
Oh, and I have a question, if you don't mind. n_n
Do you line the inside?

You make a ductape pattern for the fur. You cover the whole head in ductape draw on the markings and than carefully cut out all the pieces. Than you cut fur pieces and sew them back together.
My jaw is put on a foam band that is glued to the bottom of the head. I put a small piece of wood in the jaw to make it firm and than I used a small band of elastic at the back of the jaw to make it snap back up.
I did not line the inside. I am just going to wear a baclava inside my head. But you can line them. I think it would just make it hotter though.

Oh wow, I didn't realise that!
I think I'd find sewing it all back together very tedious! Wow, that'd take forever!
Oh, that explains the snap-back jaw! Thanks!
Oh yeah, I suppose lining the inside would make it hotter! The beanie is probably a better option if/when I make mine

obsidianEMOtion In reply to xYDCCx [2009-09-29 19:50:42 +0000 UTC]
You know I am actually using like a footy pajama pattern to make my suit. I just have a zipper up the back. I will have tutorials later on about dying furs - Making paws, boots, - Than one on how to make the suit. Or at least I hope so.

use clothes ok! Now last question for head xP
Ever seen someone literary move the ears? I know obiously its robotic but how??
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
obsidianEMOtion In reply to xYDCCx [2009-09-29 22:31:41 +0000 UTC]
Yah... but there are several methods that are not robotic. I don't use them though - Its because I think its unnatural. Don't use footy pajamas. Just buy a pattern and base it off that. If you think about it a bodysuit is no different then footy pajamas minus the feet.
