Extra: TGDJ was also wondering what Cordelia would look like as an "Inari Okami", so I made a picture of that here:
Since the "inari okami" are supposed to be holy spirits usually depicted as white foxes according to wikipedia, I figured that's what I'd do with her.

That'd be a real way to resolve their love dilemma. In a way it's actually super romantic, since they both sacrificed their happiness for the other, but having it turn out so badly is, well, tragic.

Wow this would be a tragic end to a fan favorite romance. (Looks above the comment box) I guess when her benefactor became an ascended demon that Cordelia got a new set of powers whether she liked it or not.

Well, basically, recently had the thought of fantasy characters being designed so that they have personalities and appearances... that are completely different than their actual skillsets, in turn meaning they also wield said skills in unorthodox ways.

Using skill sets in unorthodox ways is usually a ton of fun. I always value creativity and cleverness in the application of powers, and it's one of the reasons I really enjoy JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. In the later arcs, the writer is extremely good at finding clever applications of what's sometimes a bizarrely specific power, and I love seeing how they develop more into battles of wits than ones of strength.
Most characters have powers that suit their personalities, but I can see how that dichotomy can be really interesting as well. It can lead to a lot of interesting self-conflict. Some might adapt their ill-seeming powers to suit their personalities, while others might be forced to admit there are aspects of their personality they don't want to acknowledge, and only by coming to terms with that can they master their abilities.
Did you have any particular character ideas that you wanted to share?

For one, imagine a cheery partying girl that likes to wear bright pink and bright colors... that's a necromancer. And upon learning of things from modern world like Spooky Scary Skeletons or the Day of the Dead celebration, she starts to happily embrace ideas like that and combine them into her necromantic summons. Eventually learning of the idea of necromantic amalgamations too, and begin making living carnival undead. Like, an undead mandala I think the term is, those festival things where seats are hanging down and spun on wires around a central structure or something. The undead often being hot pink and festivally decorated or the like.

I gotta admit, that sounds like a really fun villain for a shorter arc in an Urban Fantasy story. I'd love to see a grotesque carousel made of human flesh and bone, or an entire rave of gangling zombies. You could do a lot of fun, if morbid, visual gags with a character like that. Maybe one of her skeletons is bedazzled, or she has a "puppy room" filled with the undead. It could be a lot of fun. I like it, it's a real clever, unconventional way to handle a necromancer character.

Fair enough. The whole macabre carnival angle feels more villainous to me since it seems perfect as a villainous lair, but you could do it as a hero as well
